We called to get a reservation for New Years Eve and were reassured (since it was the most important thing for me) that dancing WAS a part of the evening's offering. For the $100.00 cost per person there was to be live jazz and a five course meal (which didn't interest me as much as the opportunity to ring in the new year with dancing to good music). It turned out that drinks were not included so $40.00 for wine was added to the bill along with the 18% mandatory gratuity. One glass of champagne and the noisemakers which no one used (more pollution for landfills) were distributed just before midnight. WE dressed nicely and were disappointed to see some others in extremely casual sloppy faded jeans. Two couples danced before the first course was served and that was about it for the evening. There was no space available for dancing since a big table for the band's friends to sit occupied the area where dancing would have been. A few older diners swayed individually along the sidelines after dinner. The music was good...but there was waaaay too much food. We took home most of our entree and made two more meals out of it. They would do much better in our opinion to cut down on the gluttonous amount of food ....and clear the floor for dancing to the music that was provided!
THEN we were foolish enought to make a worse mistake by taking out of town visitors here for dinner a week later. Being lovers of shellfish, there was nothing on the menu for them. (The sole they "settled for" was "blah" with no sauce...very overpriced) and the calimari steak was huge but soaked with grease.
Even though we live close by, we will not waste our time and money dining here again.
Feeding our guests at home turned out to be our best bet. We prepared a wonderful tenderloin filet (from TJs) last night in just ten minutes and for just 1/5 of the cost of the bad meal the night before.
