We had a decent experience at One Pico but unfortunately we have eaten in better restaurants in Santa Monica. The restaurant is fairly small and confined but not cramped and the view over the beach and ocean is great. The food is very good, despite the fact that the starters on offer are a little boring. I had the pork chop which was a beast so you have no chance of leaving hungry but the wine list isn't great and is expensive for what's on there. Almost exclusively californian wines and we ended up having a pretty average bottle of Chardonnay that cost $125.
The only let down was the service and this is where One Pico lacked. Little things like having to wait an age for a server, servers leaving white wine on your table with no cooler and the menu wasn't exactly accurate. When I ordered fries with my pork chop I was told by our waiter that I was ordering too much food! Certainly the first time I had been told that without asking. It then turns out that the pork chop came with a risotto that wasn't declared on the menu. Still, I could have done without the attitude from the waiter.
