“Like a New York Bistro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Superior service, food and ambiance in a neighborhood Italian-themed location. NOT a high priced rip off. Wines, a full bar, "near Beer" and white tablecloths. Valet Parking, not too noisy.
Moderate prices. You will go back.

“Good food, but picked a bad night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

We had made reservations at Vito's several weeks before our trip to CA, due to the fact it would be Valentines Day. Our reservations were @ 6:00pm. We had a cab pick us up at the Fairmont. Traffic was horrendous. Took us almost 40 min to go 4 miles. At the restaurant, reservations were backed up due to the same problem. We waited almost an hour to get seated. Luckily we were able to get a spot at the bar for the last 30 min. It was so crowded. Wall to wall people. The dining area also was crowded. Obviously a local favorite, for family's too, which added to the noise level. Not very romantic! Food was good, staff worked hard to accomodate everyone, but we wouldn't go back, for alot of reasons.

“Classic fare and knowledgeable waitstaff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Have eaten here several times through the years. The place is a trip back in time to the great dinner houses of the 1950's....some of the waiters have been here nearly that long (a good thing). It looks better inside than out and the undistinguished location should not be a turn-off. They have valet and your will not be disappointed.

“Great Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

If you're looking for a contemporary energetic atmosphere then Le Vecchia in Venice/Santa Monica is where you need to go. If you're interested in delicious Italian food then Vito's in Santa Monica would be your choice. They are truly an old school Italian establishment with excellent service and delicious food.
FYI.....I've spent many years in Italy traveling in the north, south, east and mountain regions, and the food in Italy is nothing to compare to what is available in the US. Fresh ingredients and non-processed ingredients are what separate the dishes and sauces that make up the easiest and most complicated of Italian cooking. The sauce whether Bolognese or Marinara are the key components of any good Italian food. The sauce generally makes or brakes the restaurant.
In all, Vito's is a great place to get Italian food and Italy is the best place to get authentic Italian food.

“This is in my top favorite Italian restaurants ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

I’ve been coming to Vito for over 20 years and always enjoyed his food. Every dish on a menu is always cooked from well chosen fresh ingredients. Some of the dishes are home cooked. Service is impeccable; some of the staff has been with Vito for over 20 years. His wine list is vast and martinis are out of this world.
