“Best Mexican food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

Mercado was a wonderful surprise. The restaurant is highly rated but lived up to its hype. Several very good appetizers including pork and fish tacos were followed by a well prepared skirt steak and a superb Chilean Sea Bass. Our meal was made even better by a friendly, effervescent and fun Katie.

“Great Food, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Just in case your cabbie doesn't know where it is (ours didn't) make sure you write down the address - its worth it! We arrived late on a Sunday night but were treated well in a somewhat half empty restaurant. We split the Pozole which was delicious with side pork and chick peas plus a mini salad on top. They didn't have the chicken for my daughter's Pavo en Mole, so they substituted a (huge) turkey leg. There was too much for her to handle and that dish definitely had the heat. I was looking for something lighter in the Alambres de Camaron. My only suggestion is that the shrimp should be treated more gently, they had a rubbery texture due to overcooking. We had anticipated the flan for dessert but it was gone by the time we finished, so we had to settle for the chocolate ice cream which had a unique and much more creamy texture than the "usual". The Handsome coffee woke me up, in time for our walk to the Santa Monica pier (only 15 minutes away). Thanks Paris!

“Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013 via mobile

We followed trip advisor and found this amazing place with Mexican food that isn't a cliche. Everything was right here from the service to the fresh tasting food. There's not a lot else I can say apart from a great night out and worth every cent.

“Best Mexican food I've had anywhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We loved this place. They treated us like we were the only guests in the resturant and we could not believe how good the food was. The chef actually treated us to one of his house specialties that was fantastic. We are re-routing our vacation just so we can stop by and have another meal there.

“Best Mexican food ever!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

After an eventful day in LA from star-studded Walk of fame to the Hollywood Sign to Santa Monica pier, we concluded the memorable day with dinner at Mercado (Thanks to TA).

We ordered Blood Orange Margarita's at the recommendation of our server and Boy! Oh, Boy! was it good ?!!! We ordered guacamole and chips for appetizer and can say it was the best I have ever tasted. Also ordered Carnitas and it was delectably charred on the outside and juicy on the inside. Be sure to ask for corn tortilla ,they were good.
Th food was on the pricey side but totally worth it. Can't wait to go back!!
