This is a gem in a city of overpriced hotels...free parking, clean rooms, comfortable beds and nice bathroom amenities. Workout room is great as well. This is a great place for business travelers...as they have wireless capabilities. Walking distance to some restaurants, and it is relatively easy to get to/from the Santa Monica Freeway. This is a quiet boutiquey hotel that I have stayed at (3) different times...each time more enjoyable than the last. The breakfast is also fantastic...

It was one of the best hotel I have ever stayed. Breakfast is from Starbacks not only coffee but pastries. Room is cozy with folklore wardrobe.
I strongly recomend you one thing. Since this hotel is located in the next to a hospital building, it is better to reserve the other side room from hospital.

I stayed at the Ambrose Hotel for 5 nights in early June and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is located one block south of Wilshire in a very quiet and safe residential area of Santa Monica. It is close to everything! It's less than a 5 minute drive to Montana Ave, the Promenade and the Pier. The rooms are very comfortable with amazing beds and luxurious Frette sheets. Bathrooms are spacious and have Aveda products. The complimentary breakfast was excellent: cereal, pastries, bagels, toast, Starbucks coffee, fresh fruit, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a computer with internet access available for hotel guests in the lobby. I'm not really one to comment on the quality of the TV in the hotel, but this place was awesome! There were about 70 cable channels available which was more than I have ever seen in a hotel anywhere! I was in Santa Monica looking for a place to live, and the Ambrose hotel was the perfect home base. I was also traveling with my 4 month old baby. They don't have any ammenities for babies (no pack and play or cribs available) but if you co-sleep it doesn't really matter. The place also has free parking which is great. Most hotels tack on $20 a day to park your car! This place is a real gem and the only place I will recommend to guests when they come to visit! You will love it--I promise!

For my first visit to Santa Monica, I chose The Ambrose based largely on the positive reviews found here and partly due to the very reasonable rates offered online. I was concerned about the distance from all the action, but I took the chance. And am I glad I did! The staff was so pleasant, the parking was free, the lobby and the rooms had a great zen feel, the hotel gym was well-equipped, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the toiletries were all top-of-the-line Aveda products, the complimentary continental breakfast -- for which I had the least expectations -- was unquestionably the best I've ever had, the in-room internet connection was fast, and access to the internet on the hotel computer in the lobby was a nice bonus. The walk down to the 3rd Street Pier took about 20 minutes which was no big deal. There are also plenty of places within a couple of blocks of the hotel on Wilshire Blvd to eat, drink & hang out, including a cool Irish Pub called O'Brien's. I highly recommend The Ambrose, especially for the amazing scones in the morning!
