My friend and I stayed for an entire week at the Embassy Hotel Apartments while we took a one week cutting course at the Vidal Sassoon Academy. I wasn't sure what to expect since the reviews were very mixed. Thankfully we had a great time! It's amazingly unique architecture and layout make you feel like you are living in Santa Monica and not just visiting. The neighborhood is cute and very safe (since I went on walks by myself at night and saw many other people out as well and all very friendly!) The building is old but in a very charming way. Great details and interesting rooms with old style touches that I love.
It's not the Fairmont Hotel so don't go expecting extra amenities or someone coddling you every minute of your visit. It's as though you are living in an apartment (we had the studio suite) so if you don't mind carrying up your own luggage (instead of paying a bellman) and if you don't mind parking your own car (instead of the $30/day plus tip to have it valet parked) than you should really enjoy this place.
Pros: great location, large studio apartment, charming architecture, incredibly nice hotel staff, unique, good price
Cons: A bit noisy (we ran the fan at night for the white noise which totally blocked out all noise)
