Been there several time both for business and pleasure and it's a very cool place.
You boil your own choice of food in front of you.

We were there the first week that they were open. They were lovely and attentive and comped dessert and saki.
Food was great and it was a lot of fun.
You cook your meat (chicken, beef, fish, seafood) and veggies in water which become a broth which they then serve you as a second course - we were very full when we left.
I wish them the best of luck.
My son goes to a martial arts class next door so I am sure that we will eat there again soon. (Oh - and check out the coffee place next door - they have coffee for about $100 a cup - beans that have been digested and pooped out by goats or something along those lines - but a family of 4 can eat at California Shabu Shabu for less than the cost of a cup of coffee so we will stick with that!!!)
