“Cool, friendly hotel in a great location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

Santa Monica is a great place to spend a few days and I was really glad we chose to stay at the Loews. The location is perfect , right on beach and a few blocks walk to shopping and eating on Main Street or Third Street. The pool was really well styled and serviced, plenty of comfy sofas and great bar service.

We recently had a group of family and friends attend our wedding and reception held on June 22, 2013. Our wedding was on the beach in front of the hotel and our reception was held on the patio in the covered area near the pool. We arrived on Wednesday, June 19 and stayed until Monday, June 24; our family and friends began arriving the next day.

We have traveled extensively over the years staying in other "high end" hotels such as the Ritz Carlton, Hotel Del Coronado, Royal Hawaiian, etc. and this is the only letter of gratitude and appreciation we have ever written to a hotel. Our experience was second to none, never have we had such warmth and care from each and every employee! There were no automated responses to our requests and it wasn't just "can do" it was a resounding heartfelt "gladly can do" every time without exception!

We have stayed at this Loew's many times and always receive top service; however this time it was unbelievable from the time we arrived until we departed.

Every single one of the staff that we came into contact with seemed to know that we had just gotten married and congratulated us! It was impressive and genuine.

There was not one thing that we would change about our stay, our big day or the reception. It was magical, stress-free and simply could not have been done any better!

Room Tip: Full ocean view rooms are worth the extra money! You get the view of the Pacific as well as the Sant...

We booked this hotel as an overnight after flying into LA from UK before starting a road trip around California. It was right on the money - a relatively short journey from the airport but a really nice beachfront location away from the hustle of the city, but with all of LA very accessible if needed.

On arrival around 4 pm we jumped straight in the very adequate pool which overlooks Santa Monica beach and Pier. Just what the Doctor ordered after a long flight, quickly followed by a nice beach stroll and a sundowner on the hotel terrace which has lovely fire pit seating.

When we noticed the food being served we realised we didn't need to look any further for dinner so we asked for a menu and our charming waitress - sorry I don't know your name but you were looking after the pool terrace evening of 18th June - guided us through some lovely options and we were served a really nice selection of dishes which were very tasty. A great introduction to Californian food with super service.

The freshly made cocktails were very good and the service excellent. The whole ambience was very relaxing and we really enjoyed our evening. Early to bed in a very comfortable double deluxe room with a view of the Pier and very good facilities ensured a good nights rest.

First down for breakfast, there was an a la carte or buffet option. We went for the buffet because everything looked very nice and it was with eggs cooked to order just how I like 'em! All the staff were very friendly and efficient, and although this proved to be the norm in California they were all a credit to the Hotel, and set a great tone for our visit.

The bell boys and guys who work the reception area were very accommodating when we were organising our luggage and car hire collection they made what can be a bit stressful very easy. thanks guys!

If we come through LA again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here - I would imagine its a good base to explore LA if you want to from a seafront base too.

Room Tip: Get a sea view - it's worth it

One of the best locations in Santa Monica if you like the Beach. Right across the street is the beach with easy access. The Pier is a short walk north while the 3rd St promenade is a ten minute walk from the front door.
The staff is helpful and friendly. I would avoid the rooms that have been retrofitted with a walk-in shower because they seem to create flooding issues in the bathroom if you are not extremely careful.
The lobby bar which doubles as a breakfast bar in the morning is wonderful and serves delectable chocolate croissants and other pastries and a variety of coffees and teas.
If you require more the restaurant offers a full serve menu along with a breakfast buffet.
There are within 10-15 minutes walking distance a plethora of restaurants of all types.

Room Tip: If you are in the South wing and want an ocean view select floors 5 and 6. Unless you have need of a...

As part of our California Trip we ended up in Santa Monica, and wow this hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The picture of the pool at night is spot on it is a gorgeous view, great service extremely clean and the rooms aren't the most modern but you're here too spend most of your time at the beach and or pool so it is not a big concern! Enjoy, the cost is a little high but it is well worth it

As I stepped out of the taxi with help from Roger, my bellman, I was greeted with the friendliest smile and reassurance. I was early but for my reservation but both Roger and the sweet blonde behind the registration desk made me feel as though this was no inconvenience; they took my luggage and asked if I’d like to enjoy lunch by the pool. Joe, my poolside server, came quickly to serve up a beautiful view, a refreshing drink and a great burger! Joe helped me many times over my 7 day vacation in Santa Monica. Everyone at Loews calls you by name, it really is a kind service gesture that is missing in many resorts today! The friendliness of their staff, cleanliness of their hotel and services offered will call me back to Loews for years to come!!! The beach is just out the door, and don’t forget to stop by for chairs and umbrellas on your way. The ocean sounds are divine, and weekdays are much quieter than weekends, but the weekends are crazy busy and great for people watching!!! Doug, a wonderful hair dresser, gave me a Moroccan hair treatment and blow out that made me look ten years younger! I spent time in the Spa for a facial and massage as well, the girls (Sylvia and Natalie) really know how to calm the skin from several days of sun damage…thanks for the miracle in a bottle! A few of the staff even gave great tips on hotspots to try out in town, The Bungalow and The Penthouse were great night spots and the Third Street Promenade was great for shopping and so entertaining. I cannot share enough of my own joy to thank the staff and staff developers from Loews for the leisurely luxurious vacation that I had in Santa Monica.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money to get a west facing room on the 6th, 7th or 8th floor, the rooms with a full ba...
