“Dinner on patio in Santa Monica”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

A very good dinner at Blue Plate - sat on patio with ocean view. Ordered the lobster roll, which was very good, but pricey at $25. They have an extensive seafood menu with may options. Key lime pie for desert was excellent. I last dined here about three years ago, and the meal and service was just as good the second time here.

“Very small and crowded inside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

Traveling with a service dog can be hard and this restaurant was very difficult The tables are so right next to each other, about 8 inches apart. My dog was great and fit into the small space between the tables. It's very loud inside , can hear everything the people at the next table are talking about. It's hard to enjoy the food , which was excellent , with strangers so close. I had the fish and chips with chowder. The fries were done in old bay which I love. I would get a table outside next time. The food was excellent so if you don't mind closeness then it's the place to go for great seafood

“A diamond in the rough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

This is a great restaurant to visit if you ever are in Santa Monica. At first glance the place looks like a dive. But the food is truly to die for. We had excellent fresh East Coast oysters that were fantastic, and I had the evening's special- Mahi Mahi over linguini and mushrooms with a butter sauce. It sounds simple but the flavors all really popped. I loved this meal. Very fresh flavors, great Chilean Pinot Noir, and a very attentive wait staff who clearly were dedicated to giving the best service possible. Overall a very enjoyable evening

“Great location, Great Fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

A small wonderful gem in a sea of restaurant options. Simply prepared and wonderfully fresh. Friendly staff with great recommendations. We had the mussels in white wine and a grilled artichoke for starters (4 people). I would rate the mussels and some of the best I have had locally.
Three of use ordered from the 'off the hook' daily fresh fish menu, grilled to perfection with a choice of sauce served on the side. Our fourth member ordered the risotto with scallops and I would rate the quality of the scallops as superior. Everything was perfectly prepared and the bill was actually moderate which was a nice surprise given the location. I wouldn't hesitate to go again but do make a reservation, it's small and it's popular.
