“CLOSED”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

this restaurant is now closed. The original La Cachette fell victim to a 2 year street project. This version simply fell victim to terrible management and poor food - which was my experience the 2 times I went there. Closing is no surprise.

“Tired and disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2011

I knew the chef when I lived and worked in L.A. and was hoping for a repeat performance of the old days with his great French food.
We arrived and ordered a bottle of wine ($100.00)at the bar and indulged the staff with with glasses of wine. When we were taken to the table the hostess said she would bring our glasses (half full) to the table... ooops she forgot !
We ordered the classics which all missed the mark. The worst was the Steak Frites which was gravely overcooked (ordered R/MR and got M/MW) . When we told the waitress she brought to the kitchen then brought it back to us saying it was fine.
The ambiance was dated as was the music... techno gibberish (heroin addict music)and not suited for dining.
Better food at better prices in many places around L.A.

“really fine bistro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2011

We'd been to La Cachette before it moved to Santa Monica and became a 'bistro'. It was excellent but we only went once or twice over the years. This incarnation as a bistro is a welcome addition to Santa Monica in our opinion. The location is nice. The valet parking out front was courteous and efficient. Greeting and seating were pleasant and friendly. We sat outside, the venue wasn't quiet but conversation was no problem. The food was excellent. We had a variety of 'tapas' and all were enjoyed. The mains at the table likewise were considered excellent as were the deserts, the coffee and the bread. Instead of a bottle of wine we had a jug of house-made Sangria which was very good. We'll be returning .....

“A little gem, no longer a "hidden. Place " ( this is what La Cachette means in French) !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2011 via mobile

We LOVE that La Cachette has relocated in Santa Monica..the new menu ( still very french) offers an wonderful diversities of traditional dishes while adding a few " new creations".. And the Dessert are OUTSTANDING .. My favorite being ' L'Ile flottante ( the floting Island) a true delight !!!
An exquisite way to start your week-end as we did, Friday night.. Away from the crowd...here is another surprise: 30% off after 9pm.. A win-win situation as we LOVE0eating late..espcially after a long week.. Enjoy!

“Not worth crossing the road for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2011

I thought the menu was badly labelled - I'm allergic to shellfish, but my full of shellfish pasta was labelled as seafood. And the idea of French tapas was odd made it hard to order the right quantity.
