“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

We stayed here for just one night (but didn't want to leave!) The staff were amazingly friendly, the room was huge with a large bathroom. We've been making our way from San Francisco down the coast for their last week and this was definitely our favourite hotel! We will highly recommend it to our friends visiting the area and if we ever come back to Santa Monica, will definitely stay here again!

We stayed for 2 nights with out 17 year old daughter at the Oceana Beach Hotel. What a delight. The staff were incredible, welcoming, helpful and so friendly. It is a very well run hotel. It is also a great alternative to the big name hotels that flank the water there. We loved the boutique design, the little courtyard around the pretty pool, the beach feel rooms which were full of light and had plenty of room. I highly recommend this gem.

This is my third visit to the Oceana and it will not be my last. As I have mentioned in previous reviews the location, staff and amenities are top notch. I was generously upgraded to a full ocean view room and this time I also had a bath tub which was a plus. The breakfast buffet is amazing
Others have commented that they feel it is overpriced however, they offer everything imaginable including made to order egg dishes, pancakes and French toast. The fresh fruit and fresh squeezed juices are spectacular. My previous review I did complain about some noise from one of the other guest rooms---- this visit I experienced none of that. Housekeeping staff refreshed room twice a day, valet and wait staff are top notch. This truly is my home away from home when in Los Angeles. The yoga class and guided walk are an added bonus as well.

My wife and I brought our 13 yr old kids here on a recommendation from some friends. The hotel is in a great location, just 1 mile down from the pier. It's loaded with charm!!! The staff couldn't have been nicer. They were quick to meet any request we had. The food at the hotel, while pricey was convenient and delicious. They had bikes for us ride down to the pier which was a lot of fun.

If you're looking for a quiet, quaint, and charming hotel, you won't be disappointed.

Stayed at the Oceana late last year for about a week. The location is exceptional as it's right across the street from the Beach. Most of the staff are great and go out of their way to make you feel welcome so kudos to them for their customer service skills. Unfortunately, that's where the positives pretty much end. (1) To get to the beach you have to cross a very busy intersection - that can be nerve wracking (2) the property might be older because you could hear guests in the rooms next to you and any guests walking around, getting off the elevator, etc. could easily be heard (3) the design of the property looks like an updated motel complete with a pool in the middle and the rooms surrounding the pool so everyone could hear the delightful screams of children as they jumped into the pool. Not exactly the best for relaxation. (4) Although the property is close to the Promenade, it's not within walking distance. With a car it might be a 5-10 minute drive, depending on traffic. All in all, a decent place but the cost doessn't justify the experience.

Room Tip: Request for rooms away from the pool area

We stayed three nights here about a week ago with our 6 month old. It was perfect for us. We love the location best as it is farther down on Ocean Ave into the residential a little which meant a lot less noise. It is still close enough to walk to the pier, third street promenade and the other touristy area if you like. The staff is lovely. They are accommodating without being intrusive and the place was very clean.
It has an fun LA boutique hotel feel and the rooms are HUGE with relaxing decor perfect to unwind in after long days.
We loved that there were bicycles to use too. The hotel restaurant was very good but limited selection and pricey.
The only downfall was that the bathtub in our room was so small! But really, it wasn't a big deal overall.

I stayed at the Oceana for five days in January, 2014 with my significant other; we both have grown children in the LA area and were visiting them.

We had a lovely suite with an ocean view. The staff were helpful and friendly, the property clean and modern, the location fabulous for walking along the beach or to the stores and restaurants of Santa Monica. It's a luxury property with valet parking and an on-site restaurant.

It's pricey; we stayed there at the suggestion of one of our kids. I think we might comparison-shop for rates on the next trip but if offered a good deal on the Oceana, would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Ocean-view is lovely.
