“Loved it! Great value for money, great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2009

We chose this motel after reading the glowing reviews in Frommer's Los Angeles and here on Trip Advisor. What a great place to stay - would recommend it to friends, and would definitely stay again. We stayed for 5 nights in room 6. The room was tidy and spacious, the bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They let us check in early, by about 3 hours, which was really nice.

The location is great - nicely sandwiched between Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade and Venice Beach, and 2 blocks from the beach. The motel is on Main Street - so there are plenty of neat independent restaurants and shops to check out on foot.

I will say however, this is a budget motel. Don't expect turndown service or any fluffy accoutrements you would get at a high end property. If you are looking for a comfortable room at a good price, this is the place for you. Also, parking is free - which was a treat (used to Seattle hotel parking - blech).

I was visiting L.A. for the first time (Drove there from Chicago), and saw so many great reviews of this place that not only did I stay there, but when they told me all their one-bedrooms were booked (I called to reserve the day before, stupid me), I booked a two-bedroom suite...JUST because I'd heard it was that good. Well, it was awesome. I'd figured what I'd pay to get a 1-bedroom ON the beach would still be more than the room for 2 at the Sea Shore. It's about a mile walk to the actual pier, which doesn't seem like it since there's so much to see on the way. I had a fantastic last night in California, thanks guys!

Sea Shore Motel is a great place to stay in Santa Monica if you don't want to spend a fortune. It is clean and the rooms are nicely decorated with Spanish tile floors and some wood ceilings. We stayed in one of the family suites, so we had a refrigerator and microwave, along with a separate living area. The living area was a bit noisy because it is close to the street, but it did not keep the kids awake.

The motel is 2 blocks from the beach - very convenient. However, I would not recommend walking to the Santa Monica Pier from here, because it is quite a hike. It might be ok for adults, but definitely too far for little children. It is probably about a mile away. The pier has its own parking area so you can just drive there and parking is $8.

What a little gem of a place! Okay, nothing fancy about this place, but it was SUPER C L E A N!! I said SUPER C L E A N!!!!! The bed was soooooo comfy - we left the window open and the street noises were great - soothing and beachy. Quick walk to the beach, close to a local pub so you can walk for a beer or two, little coffee shop next door or a Starbucks a bit further down. You can spend more, but really, how much time are you spending in your room when you are in SANTA MONICA??? Not much, I hope!! GREAT LOCATION - great rate for a Santa Monica hotel (believe me, there are some DUMPS so be careful!!). Enjoy!!

I chose this motel based on the reviews and they were absolutely accurate: friendly staff, spotless room, free parking, great food in the neighborhood (try Urth caffé, a few blocks away). And then, of course, the ocean, just a short walk away. A great experience.

My family stayed one night at the Sea Shore Motel while on a 2 week vacation through California. I found this hotel through Trip Advisor's reviews and Family Fun Magazine.
I was very disappointed and it turned out to be the most run down of all the hotels we stayed in. The sheets felt as if they had sand on them and therefore we slept on towels. The plumbing from another unit backed up and we had water in our bathtub and sink(along with a nasty odor). The location is good just 2 blocks to the beach. There are also restaurants, coffee shops and a laundry mat close by.

We just returned from six days in Santa Monica and stayed at the Sea Shore, which is the best value for the money in the area. The motel is very clean and spacious, a couple of short blocks to the beach, family owned - all were very helpful and friendly, free parking (but don't really need to rent a car), excellent location (close to everything - shopping, beach, restaurants, SM pier, Venice beach) and very safe area. We loved this motel and would definately stay here again.
