“Would Certainly Stay Here Again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

Family-run, small, simple and cordial. Very well located outside of downtown Santa Monica -- but extremely close to beach, restaurants, small shops. I like to walk so this spot was perfect. Yes, decor is somewhat outdated, and a few coats of paint here and there would help. But it's clean and efficient, and the staff is very helpful and cordial. Quick in and out, just right for a no-fuss stay. I would certainly board here again.

Room Tip: No elevators -- lots of baggage? Keep to ground level.

Let me say Ive stayed here before and although its a great location, the owners had better beware to get off their butts and do a better job of taking care of business or they will see how fast they fall...

The bedding and the rooms are outdated...Our room could use some paint and a bit of plumbing and bedding.. The shower curtain leaking water out of the shower was unavoidable......The bedding is old and I don't understand how a decent motel cant spend a few bucks and invest in some blankets...the ones in our room looked and felt out of the 80s....One bed was good and the other was CRAP. Ive seen this happen before, either new owners or OLD tired owners pinching penny's and not keeping things up to date....but the area that really upset my wife and I was a disturbance around 1:30 am...

Someone about 5 doors down was knocking on the window of a room calling out some girls name for at least 30 minutes....After a few minutes, I called the front desk and guess what? NOBODY WORKS AT THE FRONT DESK AT NIGHT! there was a prompt to dial in case of emergency but I was half a sleep...Are you serious? Just pay someone a few bucks to be here and call the cops if a disturbance breaks out!.....Not my job!

Honestly, if I had not thought of turning on the AC/Heater unit to drown out the noise, I would have called the police...How in the name of ? can a motel not have someone on the property at all times is beyond me and something I thought I payed for...I later looked on the website and its definitely deleted from any info...

Please envision this is a motel and within a small complex you can really hear everything within the complex (loud talking and doors closing AND GLASS RATTLING)..........

The guy at the front desk GREG? was a peach of a guy but I doubt we will be back, at least the last time I stayed here, someone was working at night.

Room Tip: Not worth $150 a night but definitely worth a few more bucks to stay somewhere else.

Cute motel on Main Street. We had room 11. California king bed, big plasma TV, air con, table & 3 chairs, wardrobe, drawers & bathroom with a shower.
It's nothing flash but its very clean & comfortable, easy walking distance to pretty much all of Santa Monica. Try the Omlette House - breakfast there was great, we went twice! And The Galley for dinner - the decor is a bit random but the food is great.

Only a block back from the beach, great location. Room was clean & spacious. Reception staff helpful and friendly. Loved our time at Santa Monica, the panini cafe down the road did beautiful breakfasts. Only complaint was the toilet didn't flush too well and got blocked over overflowed one of the days. A plunger in the room would be handy :) enjoyed our stay and will return one day

Small family run hotel, fenced in parking with limited access and no daily fee, excellent place to stay, very clean, convenient to restaurants, buses, grocery stores, beach & bike path. Walking distance to Santa Monica pier, Venice beach, and everything in between. Staff was very friendly and helpful with maps, information on attractions, what parts of LA to stay away from, etc. Excellent restaurants just outside of property. Have stayed there 4 years in a row, plan on it again this fall. Has a "friendly neighborhood" feel to it due to its location, which is one of the main reasons we keep going back there to stay. Reasonalby priced. A good place to go to relax and have a good time. Farmer's Market accross the street on Sunday mornings with plenty of locally grown fruits, vegtables, and beautiful flowers as well as local entertainment and small food stands with very good food.

Great price, awesome staff and the rooms were massive and clean with a great bed. Good coffee shop at the front. Will definitely be our go to place in LA. Stayed here for 2 nights and was impressed by the great location 5 mins to beach and 10 minutes to 3rd st promenade.

We stayed at the Sea Shore Motel in April 2013 and thought it was an excellent motel and a must if on a budget or not.

Staff:

As far as I understand this motel has been family run for several decades. The staff are very friendly, accommodating, and entertaining and made our stay a pleasure.

Location:

The hotel is just a hop, skip, and a jump to muscle beach, an 8 minute taxi ride to the CBT, and walking distance to a number of excellent restaurants and bars.

Facilities:

The hotel itself has a very cool look to it with large rooms that are well maintained and comfy beds. The place is quite an age however has been well looked after and has loads of character. It can be a little noisy at times due to being quite close to the main road however not so much as to annoy us in any great way. We actually moved to another hotel closer to the waterfront while in Santa Monica which was more expensive and in no way a match for the Sea Shore Motel.

General:

We found the Sea Shore Motel to be a great little gem of a find and were really pleased we stayed there and would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking to visit the Santa Monica area.
