“Old but so convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The hotel is from antoher era and the rooms are OK. This is not new high count threaded sheets nor are the beds newer either. It is doable for the price which was under $200 for the area. "A Good deal" I was only there one night and it was fine for that purpose. I would be hard pressed to stay a week at this hotel. If I was coming from out of the country, you would be most likely OK with this budget hotel. Clean and on the waterfront super convenient to the LA airport and Santa Monica. Go for it, the price is right.

Room Tip: This hotel is not about being in the room, it is about the location. The room is fine for doing ever...

We stayed 3 nights in this quaint, extremely well situated motel in the heart of Main St Santa Monica.Very clean, staff willing to go that little bit extra to help you, the only downfall might be the
noise on certain nights(make sure trojans or bruins arent playing). Sunday mornings a great farmers market right across the road, an abundance of great bars, restaurants and shopping at your doorstep I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my heavysleeping friends, and to the lightsleepers bring earplugs All sorted.

Stayed 2 nights in room 5.
The Motel is in a good location on Main Street (ie old Santa Monica), handy to the Farmers Market held across the road. The staff were helpful and the linen and pillows were very good.
The bathroom was clean but the shower curtain was too small for the opening of the shower which resulted in water on the bathroom floor.
Sleep quality was poor on the basis that there was a party nearby on the first night which went until around 2.30am in the morning. Can only speculate that this was on the upstairs terrace – could not see from our room.
The room is adjacent to the car park and driveway on the ground floor which meant it felt exposed with little privacy – we had to keep the blinds closed.
The air conditioning unit was very noisy (not optimal to use at night) and ill positioned in the room.
There was only one bedside table which is petty but annoying.

This is the second time we've stayed at this motel now and both times have found the staff very helpful and friendly, rooms very clean and location excellent. The first time we stayed in a motel room near reception, second time in a suite/apartment. I would highly recommend this motel. Special thanks to Tom at reception.

We drove through santa Monica last year and I thought to myself that this would be a good place to stay after arriving from the uk. Last time we stayed at one of the airport hotels and it was so bland. We were not wrong. It was wonderful to drop the cases and go for a walk along the beach, just what you need after a long flight. We wanted a light meal and were spoiled for choice, there are so many excellent places to eat within strolling distance. The next morning we took a taxi to collect the hire car in Avis Santa Monica, we discovered that they would have delivered it to us at our motel. We will be doing this next time we fly into LAX.
We were awake early and the coffee at Amelia's, right next door was wonderful. In fact we returned there for breakfast and the owner phoned for a taxi for us.
A perfect start to our holiday.

A lovely stay in this Motel at the end of our route 66 trip. Due to a change in our booking at the last hour, we managed to stay in both the suite and the smaller room. We were very happy with both, along with the friendly staff. The only downer I would mention is that on a couple of occasions, the bar across the road got a bit noisy and wild too late into the evening. The Motel is aware of this, and the surrounding residents have been trying to shut it down, so for any light sleepers, this may be an issue. Otherwise a great stay in a really nice part of town.

Room Tip: perhaps keep away from the main road (as this is near the club opposite)

My husband, 3 kids and myself stayed for 3 nights at the end of August. We flew in from Australia and arrived early but our room was ready so we could check in which was fantastic as we were all exhausted. Tom on the front desk was so friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. We walked to the Pier and downtown Santa Monica and
hired bikes to ride to Venice beach. Downtown Santa Monica where the motel is located has some fantastic shops and restaurants. This motel is great value and has loads of character, we would certainly stay here again.
