I loved our stay at the Travel Lodge in Santa Maria! It was so clean and beautifully decorated. The linens were spotless and smelled so good! I loved the down-like comforter and the bed and pillows were so comfy! There is a new fridge, microwave, newly decorated bathrooms, flat screen television, easy to use internet, beautiful decor and lighting. The front desk staff were so friendly and answered every question graciously. The breakfast the next morning was perfect. My husband and I stayed in one room, my grown daughter in her own room right next to us. We were overlooking a gorgeous pool with palm trees all around. There were beautiful flowers everywhere. I was seriously blown away by all the amenities. We had booked online and gotten a fabulous deal. I highly recommend staying here, I will come again!!

While the exterior look of this hotel is modest, the best part of being here was our room: it was crisp, clean and peaceful, decorated in designer colors, crown molding (almost never seen in a 2 star hotel) , even in the bathroom, opulent bathroom fixtures. There were rich dark wood furnishings, accessorized by tasteful artwork in deep colors framed in the same dark wood, simple white duvet covering the comfortable king bed (so glad not to see another printed quilted bedspread). There was even a large comfortable reading chair with a simple patterned upholstery that matched the 2 chairs at a small table. The stylish ceiling fan offered us a natural option to not have to use the air-conditioning or heat. Security and lighting in the room were up-to-date. The downside of the room was the fact that we could hear the footsteps of the occupant of the room above us.
The rest of the hotel is OK -- the pool looks clean and the grounds were well-cared for. The evening clerk Miraj was very kind and helpful. Suggestions to further enhance the place would be to update the trim around the exterior doors with molding and to broaden the variety of the breakfast which was heavily carbs. Add some peanut butter or cream cheese options, or some hard-boiled eggs. The fruit looked a bit overripe. Maybe put the breakfast area behind shutters since it's the first thing you see entering the lobby at the front desk, and it's not that pretty to look at, esp. with a handprinted sign saying "out of order" on one of the machines.

Overall, a good experience, we'd definitely stay here again!
