“Tiki Up, Santa Cruz!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

Father's Day in Santa Cruz, what is better than that! My family and I spent the afternoon in Santa Cruz for Father's Day and ended the day with a wonderful meal at Hula's Island Grill. I have eaten at the one in Monterey and decided to try the Santa Cruz location. I was not disappointed! We even took another couple and their son, they loved it too. My wife had the chicken sticks and I had the fish cooked with macadamia crust....I love the ginger coleslaw that comes with it. The portion of fish was large and fresh....the poke appetizer was also delicious, fresh and the cubes of ahi melted in your mouth. AND the tiki drinks were amazing! Be careful, they can pack a punch. Service was efficient and friendly and they accommodated our younger diners with no problem. The restaurant is decorated in tiki tradition. Prices were right and food was great. Now, besides the location in Monterey, I have a "go to" restaurant in Santa Cruz. The friends we took said it was the best meal they had had in a while and loved the Duke's pork dinner.

“Delicious food and amazing cocktails”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

A cute little place with great eats! The cocktails were strong and well balanced. We shared some sashimi and mac and cheese to start. I recommend the fish sandwich or better yet, the calamari sandwich with the yummy hand cut fries. Service was excellent as well.

“Umbrella Drinks”

Always at the top of my list around happy hour. Island poke and the beef skewers are flavorful. Easy to find mixed rums drinks. Loud Upbeat atmosphere. Date worthy low lighting.

Jerk chicken bowl was great! Happy hour is 2:00-6:00 with $5 app list and tiki drinks. Pink bikini martini was good too.

“Poki, Poki, Poki”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2014

Sitting at the table, I felt like a kid again visiting the Tiki room at Disneyland. Had the poki as an appetizer and it was terrific. Got the Mac crusted butterfish with rice and it was amazing! A little out of place on the menu was jalapeño bacon mac&cheese but it was delicious. Look forward to heading back there for another great meal as well as making fun of my buddy who ordered a Lilikoi drink in tall glass. Enjoy!
