“Not the greatest Hilton”

I know I am a little jaded as I stay in Hilton Hotels over 150 nights a year. This Hilton is not up to par. At check in, although Benny was certainly very nice and polite, there was no offer to help with luggage or parking. No bellman in sight and no valet parking at the sign said. We are on the 5th floor and even parking near the back of the hotel did not make taking bags to room any easier.
The room is very tired. We had to plug in 2 lamps and search for electrical outlets. The water pressure in the sink and especially the shower can only be classified as pathetic. I told the front desk and the woman told me that it take a long time for the pressure to reach the 5th floor. Apparently it was checked out and it was no better this morning. Breakfast was satisfactory although the hot cereal warmer was old and did not work well and I had to have the cereal heated in the back. The wait staff was very nice and polite. Overall, there seems to be a lack of help here and the hotel is in great need of remodeling. Not sure if it is on the schedule but certainly will not help our vacation. This is one of those hotels that looks MUCH better on the web site and is not up to Hilton standards. Should have stayed at the Hilton Santa Clara, which is MUCH nicer.

Room Tip: Maybe a room on a lower floor will get you water pressure, enough to get the soap off of you!

Overall the room was nice, we liked having the refrigerator. The towels were good. The kids used the free internet service and said the connection was decent. We were some what disappointed with the service at the front desk. The service provided in other areas was really great. There were no towels at the pool and the ones provided in the fitness center were small and very thin.

Very clean hotel, good size room and nicely decorated. Did not eat there, so can't comment on restaurant. Friendly staff, always willing to help.

One drawback: Single elevator, very slow. Ask for lower floor if available.

Room Tip: Continental breakfast not included, $9.95 pp.

Very large room and with a great view. Open the windows and you can smell the redwoods. Nothing like it. Wish we had more time to enjoy the property. We were there for just one night. Bed was comfortable, lots of free parking and very friendly staff.

We chose this hotel because we are HHonors members - it is located in a beautiful area with easy access to Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Capitola which is a lovely little town. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious and we were fortunate to get an early check in on the 4th floor - Rm 465.
The big problem was their housekeeper service - we called to have fresh towels brought to us as we were leaving to go to dinner at 6 pm - we got back at 9 pm - still dirty towels. We then called at that time and then again at 10 pm where the front desk person said she would bring the towels herself. We left for the Boardwalk at noon the next day and let the front desk know it would be great to have housekeeping service the room while we were out - we came back at 4 pm still unmade beds and dirty towels. We called the front desk to complain - got the impression this was a known problem because the front desk person told me to go ahead and write this up on TripAdvisor and to contact the manager - this spoke volumes!! We plan on returning to the area in Oct as it is so beautiful but we will not be staying at the hotel again!

We were in town for a 90th birthday celebration with the entire family. The general manager and staff of the Scotts Valley Hilton treated us like royalty. They knew the reason for our visit, sent sparkling cider to our room, gave us special attention, and were thoughtful in every way. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and incredibly comfortable. The hotel lobby and restaurant were very nice. Everything was excellent.

11pm at night, I check into a room with a dirty bed and then get moved only to have the same exact issue! Final resolution was a room near the gym which was very loud with the door shutting over and over again along with a loud AC unit. Would not recommend staying without inspecting the sheets!!! Bellman was helpful switching rooms and moving my stuff after I had unpacked the first time.
