This was our first vacation in two years, and I had hoped for a nice room for me my daughter and my husband.

When my husband called to verify our reservations I made on-line the manager was very rude to my husband. Then when we checked in, his wife (I guess) was very abrupt. And when someone called she yelled at that person on the phone for trying to make a reservation with her. "If you want to stay here," she said, "make a reservation online!" She then hung up.

When we went to our room--first thing I noticed was there is no view, all the rooms have a large window facing the parking lot, which is facing the other way from the ocean.

Then when I went into the bathroom, I noticed that the area around the sink was covered in what I think was sticky back plastic sheets. Which I think is the same stuff that I use for my drawers at home. And what was worse was the stuff was coming up, as they had lost it stickyness. It looked real bad!

Then I looked out the bathroom window, and to my dismay I saw a camping tent that I could only assume belonged to a homeless man.

There where lots of homeless people there at Santa Cruz.

We walked the so-called ten minuet walk to the beach board walk, and let me tell you it is not ten minuets! It more like 25 minuets or longer!

After we got back (foot sore) my daughter wanted to go to the indoor pool and hot tub.
Well, the hot tub water was green! And the pool water was clear but you could see things floating in it. We both took a shower when we got back to our room!

And that thing about it suppose to be quiet after ten o'clock?--The second night there a man started yelling at his wife or girl friend and hitting the wall, it went on for hours! No one same to talk to him, or tell him to stop!

I didn't sleep well, and went home tired. I swear I'll never stay there again!

“Get what you pay for”

We stayed here in May 2004. You get what you pay for! It's cheap and worn out. Despite the comments here about the owners, I found them helpfull, if a little abrupt. They let us check in before the advertised time. We had to get them up to check out at 8.30 am next day! Seems popular with noisey school/college parties.

Overall, I'd go elsewhere next time i'm in Santa Cruz.

“Probably the worst motel ever!”

THIS PLACE IS SO INCREDIBLY HORRIBLE I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START.. first of all the staff is VERY rude and when we asked for another towel the lady laughed at us and wouldn't provide us with one! The owners are an indian couple who obviously are super sick of their job or just don't have any manners what-so-ever! I hated staying here and the place is a rip-off! they told us on the phone they would give us a AAA discount and then never did even when we asked! There are people all over at night making tons of noise and when I looked at fountain, the water in it was black! The site is really dirty and you should definitley skip it!

“Don't be Tempted!”

Santa Cruz Riviera Travelodge

We thought that even though it wasn't fancy (and most of the reviews were terrible), the indoor heated pool and continental breakfast would make it worth it. But, to our dismay, the pool was not heated and there was no continental breakfast. When we called to ask about it (politely, I might add), the desk clerk actually started yelling at us! Plus, the noise policy is not enforced. Loud groups of people pounded up and down the outside stair cases until late in the night (Sunday, by the way) unimpeded. Don't be tempted. It's not worth it. For a little bit more you can get a much nicer experience elsewhere!

“Do not sleep there...”

My wife and I were there this August on our honeymoon. We stayed for one night, and it was the worst hotel i have seen in my entire life.
Here is what is wrong:1) No airconditioning2) Very dirty3) Unpleasent staff(Especially the owner and his wife)We stayed at about 20 other hotels while in the States and this was the worst hotel even though the price was as high as 75$... We must say that Santa Cruz in itself is not our cup of tee compared to other places in the US, but how were we to know.
