“NICE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

We found this lovely spot just by chance. Our room-#17 has a great view of the pier and beach. It is a old fashioned wonderful room. I was told it was built in the early 1800's. Things are clean and they serve great coffee in the morning. Friendly nice staff. Lucky me.

Room Tip: room 17 had a great view and it was quite reasonable

We had made a reservation in advance for one night and ending up staying two nights. The Inn staff was very accommodating. The room was quaint with an ocean view and a community outdoor porch for relaxing. We ate all our meals in the bar. The bar staff, including but not limited to,Chris (GM), Stephanie (Bar Manager), and Molly were amazing. They were incredibly professional, helpful and fun to be with. We can't say enough about them. For a great time, good food, good drinks, great little outdoor patio and fabulous staff we highly recommend the Casablanca Inn and Bistro.

After spending the day on the beach with our granddaughters age 6 and 3 we were just too tired to make the 3 hour drive home. So on the spur of the moment we decided to get a hotel and drove into the parking lot of Casablanca Inn & Bistro. What a delight. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We got a room facing the ocean and the girls were smiling from ear to ear. The location was perfect. They had a laundry which was so helpful. The room was perfect. We had a patio and could just sit and watch the ocean. My 6 year old said we were the best grandparents ever which just melted my heart. The hotel grounds were great. My granddaughter said it reminded her of "mama mia" her favorite movie. We can't wait to go back. The restaurant was closed the day we went so we missed out on that. But everything else was absolutely perfect!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4 which faced the ocean and had a patio. It also had a queen bed, and a trundle b...

My girl and I drove down from SF to Santa Cruz with no real idea of where to stay and stumbled upon the Casablanca. We decided to park the car and go inside to ask the rates and look at a few rooms. We read a few reviews that were mixed in their opinions / experience staying here so we thought it best to research. Once we entered to old world but eligent reception area we were met by Pricilla who could not have been more helpful and pleasant. We asked to see a few rooms to which she promptly grabbed a few keys to show us. The first room she showed us she said was her favorite and that we would like it....we did !! Room 18 was perfectly located and offered everything and more (view) we could have asked for and at a great price. The room was quiet, have a comfy queen four poster bed, good amenities and a true old beachside classic old Victorian feel to it.
We checked in, parked our car in the secure parking, and made our way to the bar for a drink and headed out for a walk on the pier across the road directly.
Dinner saw us in the resturant downstairs. Being a Thursday, and quiet, we walked in and was met by a lovely girl who informed us the kitchen was closed. We asked for a suggestion as where to eat but didn't even finish our sentence before the chef popped his head out and told us he was happy to cook us a meal ! So glad he did as we enjoyed a perfect meal ( award winning mushroom soup.mmmm) and met the other people eating and had a truly memorable night !
If you are planning a trip to Santa Cruz do yourself a favor and stay at the Casablanca and eat downstairs, you won't be disappointed...!

Found this place after going around Santa Cruz, and decided to check in at this motel for the night to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, and we were shown two different rooms by their Front desk staff named Priscilla, who was very professional, pleasant, engaging and accomodating, and checked us into a beautiful room overlooking the beach which was very romantic. At dinner, we decided to have it at the restaurant, which was conveniently close to our room, which had amazing food, and incredible service. Went back to our room where we could hear the waves, which made us sleep like a baby. The next day, after checking out, we decided to go to the bar after being told by another front desk staff that they serve lunch. While enjoying our food, we came across a young girl, whom we thought may have been the daughter of the owner because she was acting very bossy, a loud mouth, very crude, and too obnoxious. We were told that her name was Keila, and was a manager for this company, who owns the motel, restaurant and bar. She was with another young girl who was taking pictures of some food plates, while talking loudly about their boyfriends, and how they were having this pictorial so that they could eat these food later. "YIKES". Where did you get these girls? Most places worry about the type of clientele that they would like to cater to which obviously is not the problem here. This company needs to get better managers to represent them, and not this obnoxious kids who will put your company to shame. We will definitely come back, and hopefully not come across this people who can definitely ruin a beautiful experience in this place.

Room Tip: This place has an amazing front desk staff so they will definitely help you get a good room for your...

After reading the reviews I wonder what kind of people wrote them. If you want luxurgo stay at the Ritz. Also if you rent a room for the shower stay home. We stayed in room 16 and it was wonderful, very nicely decorated, the decor fits the hotel, wonderful view of ocean and
The wharf. Hotel staff was great. Great location, and the porch/ viewing area didn't have hard plastic chairs, they were overstufffed comfy chairs to sit andenjoy the view. We had a wonderful time. The only bad experience we had was at the restaurant/bar. Sandwich boards advertising happy hour were pla ed in 3 spots, when we went to order happy hour drinks and appitizers we were told they don't have happy hour on weekends, we stated the boards were out advertising happy hour so they honored it for one round and then had us pay full price, others were complaining as well, not only that they were very rude. However, across the street is the Ideal bar and grill and they have great food and a wonderful friendly staff. We will be back to stay at the hotel, we will stay away from the restaurant and bar.

Room Tip: ask for Ocean veiw

We stayed for one night at this hotel for my boyfriend's birthday. It was a last minute decision so we pretty much had to book there because it was the only place available. We stayed in room 23.... We got to Santa Cruz at noon and they said there was NO option for early check in (they let us park, though) so we went to the boardwalk and spent the three hours playing and having lunch. Then, we checked in at 3:00 and went to take a nap right away...IMPOSSIBLE!!! First, a woman from the hotel knocked on our door to change the batteries for the remote control (really? didn't you have access to the room prior to us checking in?). After that, we tried to go back to sleep and AGAIN we were awaken, this time it was a call from the front desk asking if we had our parking permit on the dashboard (seriously??? we were there a couple of minutes ago checking in... so, instead of ignoring us or rushing you could have explained to us what to do!!!) Anyway, we decided to cancel the nap and go out for some drinks. We came back late, but couldn't sleep at all. ROOM 23 has a glass door covered by a thin clear curtain and there is a huge light bulb right out of that door, so the whole night you have that "interrogation light" on your eyes. The noisy neighbors/guests upstairs who took a shower at 2:30 am did not help either, as well as the fact that the heater does not work!!! We walked around and saw room 24 (next door). It seems that this one might be a better scenario (no upstairs neighbors and no "interrogation light" by the door), but still I don't know if we really would be interested in giving the Casablanca a second chance. It seems that they don't really care about their guests anyway!
