“Great Food and Atmosphere !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

We have to travel to Santa Cruz several times a year and this is our regular restaurant when in town. The food is always consistent and very good. Portions are great and the service is always friendly and pricing is very reasonable.
If you can make it on a Friday or Saturday, there is a floor show twice a night in which the employees do a "Vegas" style dance show to music.

“4 or 5 stars?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

It all depends on what is important to you. Located down town Santa Cruz at the corner of the main shopping street Kianti is certainly a plce to consider if one wants to have a decent pizza or another Italian dish. The quality of the food is very good. The pizza I got was the best ever I had.
However the service is open for improvement. At first we were seated in front of an open door. Given the Californian climate not too bad but the draft is always there as well as people passing by form inside or outside. So we asked to be seated elsewhere. The only plae we could get was at the bar much to our surprise given several tables not occupied. But no the bar was the only option.
The atmosphere is not bad but we like it better with a more personal touch versus the more industrial sphere it has right now. So we decided to rate it at 4 stars.
Still we will come back for the quality of the food.

“Huge and tasteless food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Dont go here unless you are really hungry and not that pick about what you eat has to actually taste anything. Huge and doughy pizzas (as well as appetizer breads) seems to be the recipe.

“A popular place with good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Kianti's is quite popular, especially on weekends. The food is good, both pasta and pizza, the atmosphere is fantastic and if you are lucky you get treated to a staff show. Unfortunately, if you just ordered you will have to wait, although I have to say it is quite entertaining.

Kianti boasts the top pizza dough handler in the country, but its pizza is not as good as Cafe Trieste in Monterey. Still it is very good. The pasta dishes too are very good and quite reasonably priced. Most importantly, they choose good pasta and cook al dente. No soggy, overcooked noodles here.

“Place is popular”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

I wish the food was better. Powdered parmesan on the Caesar Salad. Really? Pizza is decent but not memorable. Great location and the staff entertains from time to time.
