“World class”

Compares with best I've had in NYC or New Orleans or San Fran or Cabo or Italy. Sauce on sand dabs (fish) was unbelievable. Au gratin potatoes were best ever!

“Fabulous view of Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay along with fine dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Went to Hollins House Restaurant at Pasatiempo on a Friday night for a tasty dinner with a fabulous view. We made reservations in advance and I would advise that you check when you make reservations to be sure that the "main dining room" is open on that day. They will take reservations when it's closed but seat you in the tap room instead, which is a totally different experience with sport TV's etc. We were surprised by this on a prior visit. Of course, if a sports bar is what you are looking for, then you're good.
After placing our orders and starting with a glass of wine, the waitress brought a complementary brushcetta with tomatoes, onions and shaved parmesan--excellent taste bite.
We started with an arugula and strawberry salad with pistachio encrusted warm goat cheese that was fresh and tasty. For entrees, we chose an ahi tuna special that paired the thin slices of ahi tuna with some homemade "tater tots", olive tapenade, and a hard boiled egg. The other entree was their Angus prime rib special with creamed horseradish, baked potato and braised Swiss chard. Both were prepared exactly to order and delicious, we didn't bring any home. For desert there were a number of choices, we settled on the chocolate torte vanilla crème anglaise. Delightful decadent desert. The waitstaff were attentive and knowledgeable. There was a great selection of wines by the glass at reasonable prices. Overall an excellent choice for a tasty dinner with a superb view in a classy restaurant.

“Hollins House has it all !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Superb vistas, wonderful food, excellent service, extraordinary desserts! Varied menu...something for everyone. Time your arrival so you can watch the setting sun (sit inside when there are storm clouds) View from any window...most dramatic view is from the edge of the patio which looks across the golf course from above and beyond to the ocean and Monterey.

“Mediocre food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Even the most gorgeous view could not cover for the mediocre-to-poor food. Service was OK, but we will not return until we hear that the chef has been replaced.

“Fantastic Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

The food here is delicious. The view is overlooking the bay. Hollins house is an old estate with a lot of character. Definitely recommend it for a special night out.
