We stayed at the Adobe on Green Street as a 2 night break from our honeymoon vintage vw camper van road trip through California. I'm not going to repeat everything that's already been said other than we loved it. It is such a stylish house that I took lots of photos and plan on rebuilding our own cottage in Ireland in the same style! Santa Cruz is a weird but fun town, and we loved stopping over there for a couple of nights. I wouldn't stay in any other place when visiting, it's quite simply perfect. Their information book in the room is the best I have ever come across, and their restaurant recommendations superb.

Stayed at Adobe on Green last night and loved it!

* Walking distance to downtown Santa Cruz (<5 mins) but on a very quiet street
* Good local recommendations
* Lovely decorations in the room - no lace! (Most feared part of a B&B)
* Delicious breakfast - even though it's not a 'hot' breakfast, it was more than ample, very tasty and quite a bit healthier I'm sure
* No weird interactions with other guests or the inn-keepers. (They purposely stay out of your hair - you don't even see them when you receive the keys)
* Well-stocked: up-to-date magazines, drinks, toiletries - really everything you need
* Cleanest place I've ever stayed

Only suggestion I'd have is to leave a few snacks out for guests in the afternoon (could be as simple as some trail mix or gourmet potato chips)

After reading reviews here on TA, I knew we had to stay here for one night of our two-week honeymoon. The Adobe was the perfect B&B for us - all the qualities we enjoy about B&Bs without any of the things we dislike. We are private people, and not being forced into small talk with the owners or other guests was perfect. Even though the house was sold-out the night we were there, we didn't see a soul during our stay. We know they were there because the bowl of Lindt truffles in the living room would dwindle as the day progressed, but we never heard a peep.

We stayed in the Lookout Room, which was very nice and spacious. Comfy bed, large windows, great view of the beautiful grounds, and a huge bathroom. Other pluses include free wifi, speakers for an ipod, and a dvd player. Also in the room was a big book of local information, including tons of restaurant descriptions. We also appreciated the map of downtown Santa Cruz, which was just one sheet and easy to take along with us when we ventured out.

The location was fabulous: a quiet residential neighborhood - very peaceful and relaxing. Yet it was only blocks from the shops and restaurants downtown. Definitely a win-win.

Breakfast was great - not a huge assortment, but very thoughtful. There was granola, fruit, bagels, hard-boiled eggs, etc. My favorites were the freshly baked scones (lemon and peach). I really wanted to take more than my fair share of those but held off because I didn't want anyone else to not get any! There were homemade jams (loved the olallieberry!) and even soy milk, for which my lactose-intolerant husband was grateful. There were also bottles of water, soda and juice in the fridge available anytime. Loved watching the squirrels scamper about in the yard while we ate.

Check in and check out were a breeze, and a little odd without any human interaction - not that I'm complaining! I have no complaints about the Adobe on Green - except for the fact that we only got to stay one night!

Just keep in mind - if you are the type of person who stays in B&Bs mainly to interact with other guests, you will not find that here.

This quiet and private little place bucks all the stereotypes about Santa Cruz lodging. In a town of noisy and mediocre places to stay, this place has created a near-perfect oasis. Their brand of magic is a combination of imporant details done very well and many things normally done in B&B's not done at all. Very comfortable beds and furnishings made me very comfortable on arrival, and no hovering innkeepers here to talk your ear off. The location is magic as well, on the edge of downtown. They are close enough to all the great shops and eateries yet far enough away to remain quiet and peaceful. My stay was too short as I was just starting to believe I could wake up in this sanctuary every morning. Every dream must end and I will return here to dream again. If you find yourself planning a trip to Santa Cruz do give this rare place a try.

I read the reviews about this B & B and noticed that all mentioned
that the inn is quiet, serene & private. These were the features that we were looking for and upon staying at this lovely location we can verify that these descriptions are accurate.

The residence is meticulously kept. This is very important to us wherever we stay. The bed was comfortable, the atmosphere peaceful.

The breakfast suited us perfectly.Organic yogurt, homemade jam, fresh fruit and fresh pastry were among the selections. After a quiet breakfast overlooking a courtyard,(watching the squirrels) we sat outside in the garden and finished our coffee in the sun. No noise other than the burble of a fountain.

The inn keepers have put careful thought into serving the needs
of guests in a most unobtrusive manner. I appreciated the small touches. Even the check in/out process was relaxing.

We were only here for one night but feel we have found our place to stay in Santa Cruz. We plan to return soon for a longer visit.

We left feeling extremely relaxed and in good spirits!

  • Liked — The quiet atmosphere
  • Disliked — This is the only b & b or hotel I've ever visited that I consider perfect in every regard
