After reading reviews here on TA, I knew we had to stay here for one night of our two-week honeymoon. The Adobe was the perfect B&B for us - all the qualities we enjoy about B&Bs without any of the things we dislike. We are private people, and not being forced into small talk with the owners or other guests was perfect. Even though the house was sold-out the night we were there, we didn't see a soul during our stay. We know they were there because the bowl of Lindt truffles in the living room would dwindle as the day progressed, but we never heard a peep.
We stayed in the Lookout Room, which was very nice and spacious. Comfy bed, large windows, great view of the beautiful grounds, and a huge bathroom. Other pluses include free wifi, speakers for an ipod, and a dvd player. Also in the room was a big book of local information, including tons of restaurant descriptions. We also appreciated the map of downtown Santa Cruz, which was just one sheet and easy to take along with us when we ventured out.
The location was fabulous: a quiet residential neighborhood - very peaceful and relaxing. Yet it was only blocks from the shops and restaurants downtown. Definitely a win-win.
Breakfast was great - not a huge assortment, but very thoughtful. There was granola, fruit, bagels, hard-boiled eggs, etc. My favorites were the freshly baked scones (lemon and peach). I really wanted to take more than my fair share of those but held off because I didn't want anyone else to not get any! There were homemade jams (loved the olallieberry!) and even soy milk, for which my lactose-intolerant husband was grateful. There were also bottles of water, soda and juice in the fridge available anytime. Loved watching the squirrels scamper about in the yard while we ate.
Check in and check out were a breeze, and a little odd without any human interaction - not that I'm complaining! I have no complaints about the Adobe on Green - except for the fact that we only got to stay one night!
Just keep in mind - if you are the type of person who stays in B&Bs mainly to interact with other guests, you will not find that here.
