“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

Pro: Large rooms, Frig & microwave, balcony, clean, good continental breakfast (waffles, bagles, cereal, fruits, & coffee and juices). Walking distance from the Boardwalk and Downtown. 24 hour desk service and coffee. It has a heated pool and two jacuzzis. The staff is dressed professionally and will bend forward and backwards to help you. Ash (the manager) was there for us for our every need.

Cons: It is an older hotel so there are signs of wear all over the room.

I'm a local and I love this hotel. I've stayed here several times because it is within walking distance of downtown Santa Cruz and the boardwalk is right down the street. The rooms are clean and the pool and hot tubs are nice. The staff is very friendly and let you know which rooms are the nicest if you let them know you're staying again in the future.

On 06/01/12 we stayed at the Days Inn. We have stayed at this hotel, which was under different names, over the last several years. The hotel is older and there is always room for improvemnt. The rooms, pool, and spas were clean. The hotel is located within walking distance to the beach and boardwalk. The staff was polite and helpful. We advised the staff that we were coming back in July with our family. The staff showed us several rooms around the hotel assisting us with rooms that could be avaible for such a large group. The continental breakfast was very good.

First, I agree with other reviewers in the hotel being a bit outdated and old, but even though it could use a coat of paint and some touch ups it was okay. The hotel itself outside looks a little rough and the neighborhood too. My husband and I walked to the boardwalk which was about a 7 minute walk in both day and night and we didn't feel uneasy. The room itself was large, no plugs to plug anything in except in the bathroom, this made it hard to charge your phone and computer and there were no screens on the windows. There was free wifi but it seemed to continuously drop in and out. Again, the room was clean, bedding was clean and bathroom was clean. They did give us new towels each day even though they were not needed. It has a small coffee make, blow dryer, ironing board and lots of closet space. Unfortunately the hotel itself is noisy, not a really a place to get a decent sleep, it seemed there was always someone in the parking lot, kids running up and down the halls (this is not the hotels problem but a parent problem) and the toilets are the noisest..wow. The staff from day to evening were very nice and professional, the morning breakfast was simple and consisted of juice, coffee, milk, hot water, oatmeal, cereal, toast, bagels, waffles and fruit. Simple but good. Would I choose this hotel again, if I could not find another and it was only for a day or two.

Have to agree the place is a little outdated, needs a little painting around the edges inside, looks like they are trying to make outside improvements as there is fresh plants out front, which look nice. Staff were friendly and helpful, neighbourhood little rough looking driving up (especially if coming in the back way/through the gate), we were concerned as we had a convertible but they closed the back gate at night for security. Our room was big, two double beds, no smoke smell, had a good sleep. Swam in the pool and had a nice hot tub before bed. One thing I would like to see is some ‘Protein’ for breakfast: yogurt or hard boiled eggs is a nice touch for those who don’t like a lot a Carbs. for breakfast, but having said that it’s not too often I get those waffles either and I just love them ~ check the times for the boardwalk before going, we didnt time it right and everyone closed up at 5pm and reopened at 10am when we needed to be back on the road to reach our destination in time.

We arrived at the hotel at 8.30pm after driving down from San Francisco. We hadn't made a reservation. The lady on reception was friendly and helpful and checked us in really quick.

As already mentioned by other reviewers, the rooms are dated but they are spacious. It was on the slightly cold side, I slept with my socks on!

One bizarre thing, there was a lamp and coffee maker but no wall sockets for them. In fact there were no spare wall sockets. We had to unplug the clock by the bed to charge our phones and the coffee maker made its way to the bathroom...strange!

The beds were comfortable and we got a great nights sleep.

We didn't hang around to use the other facilities so can't comment on them.

Was suitable for what we needed-somewhere to sleep

Pluses: good bed, good pillows, big room, convenient, nice staff, cheap ($71 for a king).
Minuses: holes in the wall, horrible shower with accompanying screeching, awful towels, lots of ambient noise.

We are constantly trying to improve our property, and the main emphasis is in keeping our rooms clean and maintained. Obviously, we failed during this guest's visit in August. We would love it if this guest would give us another opportunity
