Most of the reviewers consider this a Mexican restaurant, It is not, however, the typical burrito and enchilada fare found at most Mexican places.
While they do offer Mexican dishes, I would consider their speciality to be Southwestern (US) cuisine. Think Sante Fe, New Mexico and you'll have a better picture of what this restaurant is like.
You have to try their chips and salsa. Yes, they do charge a few dollare for it, but it is so much better than the "free" stuff offered by most Mexican restaurants. They prepare the salsa fresh each day and it is more solid than liquid. Great combination of spices!
Other entrees to consider are their blackenend salmon, seasoned chicken breast, and the chicken enchiladas. Also, try their turkey burger - wonderful!
The atmosphere is casual and most of the patrons are either local residents or regular "weekenders". Service is excellent and very friendly.
On Wednesday's, the feature "Ukulele" night where some local musicians play a very eclectic mix of ukulele tunes. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
Having just completed a six-month consulting assignment in the Santa Cruz area, my only regret is that I didn't discover this restaurant earlier. Still, I enjoyed many good meals here during the final two months of the assignement.
