“Great Salad Bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

The restaurant has a formal downstairs and an informal upstairs with bar. We ate upstairs where the tables are more cocktail size than dinner size. The burger was above average. The salad bar was very good - worth the extra money for a trip if your meal doesn't include it.

“Conventional but good, with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

They're not going to push your culinary boundaries, but if you want seafood or a steak -- or even a decent breakfast -- and you want a view of the ocean and maybe a mixed drinkie or two, this is a good place. The food is extremely well-prepared and the waitstaff and kitchen are quite accomodating. My wife has special needs, and they've always been equal to them with no hemming or hawing; "I'll ask the chef," is what the waiter always says, and the answer is always positive. My wife has not a single bad thing to say about this place; and from her that's a ringing affirmation.

“Ocean Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

The food is good but not great but can not beat the view. It is right on the beach and has a good bar and good music as well.

“It use to be our favorite resturant in Santa Cruz”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

We use to always look forward to dinning at the Crows Nest. When we arrived on a Saturday morning for breakfast, there was a small wait for a table. After being seated there was a 15 minute wait for a server to take our order. Food arrived after another 20 minutes. Food was COLD, not warm but cold. We had ordered an Omelette and Joe's Scramble. The food tasted Ok but it looked like it had been cooked up earlier in the day. Overall it was a nightmarish experience.

“So-so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Last visit in Oct was not so good. Made reservations ahead of time to entertain out of town guests, and asked for a table to view the sail boats.
Arrived on time, only table available was in the "back". Food was comparable to a chain restaurant, nothing special other than it cost 15-20% more. Prior visits were a bit better than this one, but hard pressed to justify returning.
