I'm surprised at all the excellent reviews. It's a good place and I do recommend it, but I wouldn't rave about it. It's got thin walls so the busy street out front and the neighbors add a good amount of background noise. The rooms are nice but again, not exceptional, except the shower is pretty awesome. It's super close to the board walk, rides and wharf, so that is awesome, but for less money you could get a better room a few blocks away. Summer time, great place to stay, any other time of year, stay somewhere else. That's my recommendation.

drove from SF to Santa Cruz on highway 1....rolled into Beach Street Inn and it meet excpectations and more. front desk was helpful (laura & bobbi) and personable. i had a room facng the beach with a ktchen (sink, microwave, fridge..with dishes a toaster uner the sink) the room was spacious and set-up well. The Inn is across the street from the beach...great views and sunrises / sunsets. There's a nice shared balcony...and a heated pool. someone else mentioned the shower....I agree...best shower ever. my room looked like it was updated within the past year or so.

This was our 3rd trip in the year 2012, could not think of anywhere I would like to go as often as
is possible. We being friends and family just have the best time!! Why not ,the rooms are just wonderful. Plus the decor is just the best for the area!
Also one of my critiique's is always noise!!! Which there is none, plus very comfortable bed!
To say nothing about the location, just great.........

Late in October is a fine time to visit Santa Cruz and get one's choice of rooms with a view, restaurant seatings with a view, less crowded walks, and merchants on the wharf anxious for a sale. The weather was warm, sunny, and colorful. The room is so modern, clean, and convenient and the bathroom is the finest I have seen in a motel. The sound of the waves is so relaxing and the common deck is comfortable and even private, in a way. We really loved our stay there.
