“Close to boardwalk, clean hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We spent 2 nights at Super 8 east. Just a short walk straight down the street to the boardwalk and wonderful beach. Many shops and restaurants in the area.
The couple who manage the hotel are very nice and helpful. The room was clean, very comfortable bed and real coffee cups with logo in the bathroom. Nice flat screen T.V.
Continental breakfast that you could go up to the 2 story deck and sit outside in nice round tables and compfy chairs. to enjoy. Good safe parking for our vehicle too.

Room Tip: It all was just fine. Street out front was quiet at night.

For us, the biggest draw for this hotel was the location. Easy walking distance to the downtown shops and eateries, as well as the Boardwalk and the beach. We weren't looking to spend a lot of $$ on a place to stay, just wanted to be close enough to walk wherever we wanted to go. 2 block walk to the Boardwalk and a few more blocks to the Wharf/Pier for lots of seafood restaurants and souvenir shops. Breakfast was small but decent. You put your food on a tray and took it back to your room or to the little outside tables (no inside seating). What I really liked is the desk clerk didn't hover over you and watch what you took, as my daughter really liked the cinnamon rolls and took more than her fair share.
Our first night was really quiet, but we had very loud neighbors the second night. They stood out on the walkway and screamed drunken obscenities at each other until the hotel desk clerk asked them to take it inside. They just continued their tyrade inside the room, slamming the door from time to time for special effects. These idiots were not the hotel's fault, but I think this is to be expected with a lower priced hotel.
We liked the hotel, but will probably try a different one in the future. I'm not saying I wouldn't stay here again, just want to see what else is out there.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room at the end of the walkway. We were put in the middle of the walkway and a...

Wife and I enjoyed our stay. The location is really easy to find especially if you're going to the boardwalk. We found the rooms to be extra spacious, likely due to the TV being mFor the ounted on the wall. The room was clean and according to the hotel desk attendant recently renovated which explains the slightly higher price compared to the Super 8 across the street.
One drawback is the parking lot in the back. It's extremely small and if you have a larger vehicle it could provide challenging. But don't let this stop you.
My personal favorite surprise was when I found out they had a waffle maker as part of the breakfast bar. Silly as it may be, it's the little things that complete the experience.
For the price of these rooms and locations it is a great deal and if you find good discounts for this hotels, you can be assured you will have a comfortable stay.

This was the perfect hotel for us. It was CLEAN and very close (2 block walk) to the Boardwalk. The young man at the front desk was extremely helpful and a joy to work with. He answered all of my questions with a smile. Breakfast was great as well. Hot waffles, yogurt, toast, oatmeal, coffee and juice what more could a person ask for? Can't wait to go back in the summertime and use their pool and sit up on the terrace and have breakfast (was just too cold this time).

Despite driving a mini-motorhome, whenever traveling the California coast we stop at this wonderful motel for a non-cramped shower and a good sleep in a "real" bed. By now, the super-friendly family that manages this Super 8, recognizes us when we return. Unfailingly, we're greeted with big smiles and a hug! And as other reviewers have noted, these warm, service-oriented folks go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Although this is obviously an older motel, it is well kept, modernized and clean----all at a very reasonable price per night. Their beds are so comfortable that a couple years ago I inquired about the brand name and model of mattress. They commented that customers often ask that question, and then enthusiastically shared all the needed information with us. Now we sleep on that kind of bed in our home! Offering a swimming pool, along with being situated mere blocks from the beach/boardwalk and restaurants, you can't go wrong with this place. And unlike most motel lobbies, even the free coffee is great tasting!

Room Tip: Second floor rooms tend to be quieter.

For the price, this is a good place to stay. The rooms are large, clean, and include a microwave and mini fridge. The location is within an easy walk to the boardwalk. The staff was very friendly and helpful with local attractions and maps. Standard continental breakfast. Free wifi that worked well.

The main con to this hotel is the noise. The walls seem to be pretty thin, I could neighboring conversations and they didn't seem to be yelling. The traffic outside was loud with a lot of car horns honking. Another con is that the parking spaces are small.

I'd stay here again, but I'll bring earplugs next time.

We booked two nights in advance at this wonderful Motel during our trip along the westcoast. When we arrived late the manager was very kind and took some time to ask for our wishes about the room. Even though during the online booking process a room with kingbed was not available, he offered us one now and with my wish for a downstairs room he ended up giving us a free upgrade to a Jacuzzi Suite. It was a wonderful room, very clean, quiet and with a nice decor, but the BEST thing was the huge Jacuzzi right next to the bed - we loved it!
Breakfast was ok and similar to the ones in other Motels, the parking lot was also ok for the size of the motel and it was in walking distance to the Boardwalk and Beach. But what stood out to us the most was how friendly the manager and his wife (I guess, it was his wife?!) were during our stay. It was a pleasure to stay in this Motel and if we will ever return to Santa Cruz, we will surely return to this Super 8!
