Private room was spacious, clean. However no curtains made for bright mornings, also no lock on the door presented some security issues, but no problems encountered!
Desk staff were very friendly and keen to answer questions and point out places of interest. Towels and bedding provided on arrival.
Massive industrial size fridge and standard freezer makes for good storage of supermarket food - just make sure you put your name on it or it will get eaten - they operate a no name, free food policy. Free food donations are received on a Friday, so some decent food is available over the weekend, including fresh fruit and bread. After Monday this generally is gone, or sub standard though.
Santa Cruz is great, great beaches, great weather and decent surf. A very laid back place I would love to return to, the Boardwalk 100th Year anniversary celebrations are worth seeing this year! The lock out is no big deal, but the curfew is frustrating. Hey, if you get back too late you can always sleep on the beach!
