I was fairly familiar with the UCSC campus 20 years ago and recently returned just to see what had changed. One thing that has remained constant is the breathtaking views it offers of the Pacific Ocean, Monterey Bay, and the surrounding areas.
It is beautiful to drive around campus but I highly encourage you to park your car and get out and walk around. There are maps on paved paths plus plenty of students to ask if you need directions.
A stroll around campus will take you through redwood forests, over bridges, next to creeks, and out on large meadows and pastures. And don't forget a stop at the Bay Tree Bookstore for all sorts of fun gear featuring the school mascot, the Banana Slug.
