“Warm, Friendly Hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

If it weren't for the warm, welcoming, and friendly hosts (Adriana & Constantin), we would be inclined to rate this Inn closer to Average. However, we've stayed at many B & B Inns with so many amenities it was unbelievable, and yet the hosts weren't always attentive...it's a toss-up depending on what you are looking for. The positives were that the room was quite large with a comfortable king size bed, fireplace, and nice, charming antique furnishings. The negatives were that the bathroom was extremely small and if someone were much larger than us (we're average), we were wondering how they would fit. The room seemed quite cold but we kept the fire going and after we asked about turning on the heat, they were accomodating. The Inn is kept cooler than we're used to, so I would recommend to go there during the warmer months when it wouldn't be an issue. There are a couple of chairs, but no other seating area. Breakfast was simple and nutritious and Adriana is willing to accomodate any special dietary needs...it was not elaborate as some we've had, but tasty just the same. A few amenities and extras that we've had at other B & Bs (which they did not have) are: wine/cheese hour, spa robes, individual toiletries, chocolates & fresh flowers. Because of the old world charm and character of the Inn (someone used the word "eclectic"), we would still recommend at least a one night stay at Cliff Crest. Also, there was plenty of parking behind the Inn so we did not have to park on the street and that was a plus.

We were highly recommended Cliff Crest by the fabulous Maori tattooed tourist information lady in downtown Santa Cruz. Rolling into the driveway of Cliff Crest we were confronted by a beautiful cornflower blue wooden traditional B&B, the character was already oozing out from the rafters.

Greeted warmly by Adriana, into her home we strolled. "Wow", the personal touch was immediately apparent and the entrance/conservatory was covered in sculptures and elaborate chintz. The sculptures we later understood were created by Adriana, along with the life-sized white horse which stood strong in the grounds.

Freshly picked plums were put in front of us while we paid for our stay. Then... to the room. Our room was on the ground floor, just off from the communal lounge area. Again... "wow!" a super-king sized bed, big enough for three? four? five?! A huge room with ensuite bathroom (and incredibly noisy fan). As there were three of us, by the time we returned from a night on the local tiles, Adriana had made up an incredibly comfortable bed for me alongside the mother ship bed of all beds and proceeded to fold our pyjamas onto the bed. I almost felt like I was staying the night at a friend's parents house. We felt extremely welcomed and well attended to.

This place was like nowhere we had ever stayed before, and we were very likely to ever again, not to our modern 'Pintrested' taste, but the place was evidently created with the love of Adriana whose passion, and love for her home, her livelihood was overwhelming... in a good way. What a wonderful woman, a wonderful host.

Location; perfect. A short wander to the beachfront wonderment. A slightly longer wander on to the main street, but nothing is too far away.

This is not a Travelodge, a Hilton, a template of the last hotel, motel you've stayed in, this is an experience in itself and I strongly suggest a night's stay.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Cliff Crest Bed and Breakfast Inn in September of 2013, but I totally forgot to write a review until just now. Our experience was so positive that I feel I should just take the time now to give a few details. The house itself is charming, inside and out, with an eclectic mix of antiques and Adriana's art. (Ask her about the big horse sculpture on the front lawn.) The room we stayed in looks like the one on the website: an antique bed with a big comforter, with a small but nicely appointed bathroom. I loved the big, open, airy and light-filled dining room where Adriana served a delicious and healthy breakfast of eggs with tomatoes and toast and juice and fruit, eggs cooked per each guest's request. And best of all was the warm welcome by Adriana and her husband, Constantin, an interesting couple with their own charm and a very personal and friendly manner. We saw many international guests while we were there, and noticed that everyone was treated with respect and warmth. A highly recommended B&B.

We spent one night at Cliff Crest in December 2013, in the Jenny Room. We had a perfect experience. The owner of Cliff Crest, Adriana, was very helpful and friendly. Adriana assisted us in learning the lay-out of the land as well as ensured we were comfortable during our stay. The breakfast the next morning was delicious and nutritious. We would certainly recommend people stay here.

We loved staying at Cliff Crest BnB. Rooms were old but beautiful and clean. Breakfast was a little disorganizes, but we felt welcome and enjoyed good coffee and hospitality. CC is close to the Boardwalk and only a short drive from the most magnifisant redwoods. We will be back

For several years I enjoyed a wonderful warm stay at the house of Adriana and Constantin.
It's a pleasure to come back and visit this wonderful spot on earth.
I was for work overthere , it was quiet and cosy.
Each question was picked up!

Adriana and Constantin are the sweetest hosts you can imagine. No really, I'm not overhyping it. You have to experience them to understand.

The rooms are beautiful and well appointed, the breakfast area is sweet. The garden is lovely. The distance to the Boardwalk can't be beat-- it's just far enough from it that your mornings are peaceful, but close enough to feel easily accessible.

Only subtracting one star for the breakfast-- I suppose my expectation of B&B breakfasts tend to be higher than a typical continental breakfast at a chain hotel. It's not a *bad* breakfast, just not a very exciting one. But your hosts are so kind, and I imagine it's not easy keeping a place like this open and maintained.

A very romantic place in Santa Cruz!
