I just stayed October 29 & 30 for business. The hotel lobby is very nice and expansive. The hotel staff was very friendly when I checked in. My room was very nice and furnished with quality furnishings, including two LCD televisions. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also updated with top of the line furnishings as well. The room and bathroom was clean. I encountered a problem when the toilet kept running and auto-flushing all night. I solved the problem by shutting the water off to the toilet. The next morning, I reported it to the front desk staff. They were very nice and said they would have it taken care of for me. The complimentary breakfast buffet wasn't really a buffet. Everything was made to order. Even though you had to wait in line, it went very quick. I just hate how some Embassy Suites have made to order "buffets" as opposed to being able to help yourself and quickly move on about your day. The breakfast was good and offered some choices. When I arrived back to my hotel room, the toilet was still running and auto-flushing. After a long day, I didn't feel like dealing with it. On my way down to the hotel restaurant, I mentioned it to the front desk clerk again. They offered to have it fixed, but I said I didn't want to deal with it and would just shut the water supply off again that night. I entered the hotel restaurant at about 9:00 pm. After waiting over 20 minutes for a menu, I had to go and flag someone down to get some service. I had stuffed tortellini, which wasn't very good at all. When I received the check, I circled the food portion and said to charge to my room and circled the two beers and said to charge to my debit card. When the waiter came to take care of the check, I said it needed special attention. He brought back the bill and charged the entire bill to my debit card. Now I will have to fight with my company to pay the food portion where as if the bill would have been handled correctly, the food portion would have been on my company credit card with my room. I was very frustrated and discussed these things with the hotel night manager. Her only solution was, "let me buy you something." I explained I had an early flight and was not interested. She also tried to send up two beers with room service, however I declined as it was already 10:30 pm and I had to be up at 4:00 am for a flight out. Overall, the hotel is very nice and nicely decorated. It was very convenient to the San Jose airport as well. They just need to work on their customer service a bit. Considering the price and my personal experience, I will be trying a different hotel the next time I stay in San Jose.
