“Good deal in this area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

I need to say at the outset that I chose to pay the extra $20/night for the executive floor and requested a quiet room away from the freeway (Hwy 101). I got a room on the top floor that totally suited my need for quiet and I was pretty comfortable. Check-in was very easy and pleasant and the clerk who helped me made an extra effort to help me identify two or three good places to eat nearby. There were coffee and pastries available each morning and cookies each evening by the elevator on the executive floor. The room was reasonably clean and the bed was good. There's a huge sink and counter in a "hallway," while toilet and shower/tub are crammed into a very small space, with the toilet blocking half the access to the shower. Breakfast was great, with many options. The executive floor package included free internet with unlimited devices. I used the wired internet connection for the most part and found it acceptable. I noticed the analog TV with limited channels that others have mentioned, but it didn't matter much to me. Three nights out of five, I received a snack/candy "extra" as part of the executive floor package. Overall I thought I got a very good deal at about $220 before taxes, while the Embassy Suites is at about $300/night, plus parking, plus an internet fee. Parking was free here and I had no problem finding a space. I would definitely stay here again if I return to the area.

Room Tip: Top floor, away from freeway.

Very average hotel in Silicon Valley and may not be worth the $ per night. Check in was easy but room cleanliness is an issue. First thing I noticed was dust on bed frame, pictures, night tables, mold in the shower and dirt in the bathroom corners. Sheets were very thin, had holes in them and very worn. I booked the hotel as it was convient to where my meetings were. I will say the free Bar evening service and free Breakfast were the best part of the hotel. Wifi was $5 a night and free parking. Next trip to the valley I would scout around for a better cleaner place even if it is further away.

Outdated everything. Unhelpful staff and WAY OVER PRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET.
I tried to check out early after seeing the place and they charged me $50 on top of a highly inflated fee. DON'T STAY HERE. Much better hotels for the money. Awful experience.

it's a family trip, and we selected this hotel after on-line searching and comparison. luckily this is really good family hotel with easy parking, clean and comfort room with 2 Tvs, fantastic breakfast, and good location.

Just finished a week stay here. It's a nice place and I cannot complain too much. I do agree with the reviewers that the fuzzy analog TV service to the rooms was surprising especially since their lobby/barTVs are digital. The WiFi service has an antiquated network admission restriction that only lets you have two devices connected at once. That was probably a nifty feature eight years ago but it makes no sense in 2014 where business travelers routinely carry multiple devices (laptop, phone, tablet, e-reader, etc.) and it's a hassle to continuously have to log in/out of their service. There is no happy hour food/refreshment bar that other Silicon Valley hotels typically offer during the evening but they do give you two free drinks at the bar during 5-7 PM on weekdays. The free breakfast was fine and their chef will make you an omelette in less than five minutes using a very easy ordering process. My suggestion to the manager is to start the breakfast at 6 AM, not 6:30. I'd readily stay here again as my #2 choice in the area but I might peek in here to see if they've done an infrastructure refresh (TV, WiFi).

Stayed here on a business trip as it was the highest rated Santa Clara hotel on TripAdvisor.

Check-in was fast and very professional, but from there the disappointments began.

While the lobby is very nice, the halls are dark and outdated. The rooms are clean and well kept but the carpet has a horrid aroma - not an issue unless you're kneeling on the carpet to pick up something you dropped, but wow. If you're a single female traveler I GUARANTEE the hallway lighting will freak you out and make you feel uncomfortable at best.

The rooms are well appointed with a microwave, fridge, safe, Keurig coffee maker and two nice flat panel TVs, but for the first time in YEARS I've discovered a hotel with all-analog TV. Yep, about 15 channels of fuzzy, sometimes snowy 4x3 TV pictures forcibly stretched to 16:9. Not even HD network channels. Why install flat panel LCD TVs if you're going to provide analog TV? To fool guests who don't know the difference?

Seriously, who goes this long without updating their TV infrastructure?

Likewise, the Wi-Fi is free but you'll find faster transfer speeds at your local coffee shop or fast food restaurant - speedtest.net reports a whole 1.98 Mbps down. You're much better off using the Wi-Fi at the McDonald's down the block.

The bed is comfy, the bathroom clean, and the free breakfast tastier than most.

But for the money, you'd be better off staying at the Embassy Suites down the block as at least they upgraded their TV service and Wi-Fi within the last decade and have well-lit hallways.

Parking is also a bit dicey at times; there's an adjacent parking structure but even it's almost filled, and if the lot and garage are full you're kind of out of luck.

In short it looks like a hotel that was cosmetically updated but they cut a lot of corners in doing so.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Highway 101.

Thanks for your candid feedback and for staying with us.

We are actually in the process of finalizing the details of a corridor renovation (a sneak peak of which you can see on our third floor). A facet of the renovation does address lighting improvements which are high on our list.

The hotel was built in the early 1990's and infrastructure projects such as those you mention take a calculated approach, and we are working diligently towards providing HD programming in our guest suites. The internet is indeed capped at this juncture, however we are reviewing our offerings and will likely increase bandwidth allocation in the months to come.

I hope we will again have the pleasure of your stay in the future so you can experience these improvements first hand.
