“Helpful Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights for a conference at the adjoining convention center..overall a neat hotel with helpful staff...

The hotel is conveniently located in terms of availability of cabs at the front as well as being close to the great american parkway BART station.

the most memorable incident involved me losing a bag while checking out and the asst exec housekeeper, Bobby Raquel being extremely helpful in not only retrieving it but also ensuring it was delivered to a closeby business address....I guess i became a fan of the hyatt brand since then !

Thank you for taking the time to post such a complimentary review about your stay with us! I'm pleased to hear you found the hotel to be conveniently located and in particular that you found our staff to be so helpful. It will be our pleasure in recognizing Bobby for his helpful manner in returning your lost luggage. Your referral is our biggest compliment to the Hyatt brand and we're glad you've become such a fan!

Staff was very accommodating and kind. Particularly we like Jorge in the Tusca restaurant. He was so good we requested to have him back the next day. He will go above and beyond to make sure you feel special. Everyone else was also kind. The pool is gorgeous at night. The room very comfortable. Have not stayed at a Hyatt for a long time. We loved it!

We often hear enthusiastic feedback about our staff being so accommodating and friendly and I'll certainly share your comments with Jorge in our TusCA restaurant and the rest of our associates. We're also pleased to hear you enjoyed our pool and the comfortable room accommodations. We look forward to welcoming you back to Northern California upon your next visit from San Diego!

We have family around San Jose, and frequently fly in. We usually stay in Santa Clara since it is quite accessible from the airport. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times as well as at the Hilton (across the street) and the Marriott about two blocks away.

This used to be a very high quality hotel, and I guess it is still pretty good, however there are three large chain hotels on the Great America Parkway and if you have your choice, go by price as all three are about the same in amenities.

This hotel has a more parking since the convention center parking is also adjacent, however all three hotels have enough parking and it is free.

The check in is good. The desk clerks all seem quite congenial. The hotel lobby is huge.

The rooms are adequate size and clean, however the hotel is becoming somewhat dated. There is no dresser and the area to hang clothes is open. You have no choice but to put your open suitcases on the floor unless you put your clothing in the night stands. There is a refrigerator.

The bathroom is a postage stamp size, and since a door could not swing in without bumping the commode, there are sliding doors to the bathroom. The toilet paper is completely out of reach so we removed it from the holder and put it upon the adjacent counter top.

The flat screen TV is an older model. While our TV at home adjusts to the signal automatically to get the right configuration, even if it doesn't the remote allows you to change the screen size so that the people are not short and wide. The TV in our hotel room didn't allow you to change the picture at all so if you are going to watch your preferred show and the people are short and fat, the screen is not filled from top to bottom. I thought I might be doing something wrong and so checked at the hotel. There is nothing you can do about it either at the set or on the remote. The remote also would change channels but wouldn't turn the set on or off remotely.

The heating and air conditioning is quiet, however it is not very responsive. We like to sleep in a cool room at about 66 degrees. Although we set the temperature at 66, the best that the unit could achieve was 70 by morning. When we went out for the day, we decided to keep the temperature set low during the day so we could sleep more comfortably the second night, but again, the best we could do the second night was 69.5.

When we travel, we carry a laptop and pick up our e-mail. Since that doesn't take long, we have become accustomed to using the free Wi-Fi in the lobbies. However, even though the Hilton across the street or the Marriott a little further away both offer free Wi-Fi, the Hyatt does not. They have an internet connection in the lobby, but at an outrageous price. In the room the lowest level of access was 10 dollars. This is a factor to be considered in deciding where to stay.

All in all, this hotel is okay. However, since there are competitive hotels also right on the Great American Parkway, pick strictly by price.

Stayed here for 3 days during Velocity conference - choice of hotel was dictated by conference that was happening in same building.

I would rate this hotel as 4/5 - while it's in great shape and rooms are very modern and clean, price/performance of this hotel is not top notch.
Also selection of the food inside hotel is limited - there are 3 places to eat (2 actually - 3rd one is a bar), menu is not for anyone and prices are very high.

My family love to travel to the San Francisco/San Jose area every summer. This was the first time we decided to stay in Santa Clara. We always stay in a Hyatt hotel so Hyatt Regency Santa Clara was our first choice. From all of the reviews, we were defintely hesitant since we were traveling with children, but it was absolutely wonderful. The check in process was very easy. The front desk supervisor was amazing. He made us feel at home, especially after our long day of flying on a plane. Our room was very beautiful and clean. The hotel just had a renovation, and everything about the hotel was spectacular. The rooms are clean and not musty or dirty. Everything is very new. The beds are so comfortable. I have never been to another hotel or resort with such nice beds. The sink in the bathroom is easy to use despite other reviews. The breakfast and restaurant was exceptional. Our waitress, Luz, was above and beyond. She was very kind. If you ever go to this hotel, ask for Luz because she was just extraordinary. My family and I had no issues regarding any of the conventions during our stay.
This hotel was the BEST Hyatt I have ever stayed at. Every hotel should have a staff like the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara.

Room Tip: If you find a room, book it. It is defintely worth it. City view is very nice.

Hotel was selected as we had a conference to attend. Rooms were not well kept. the daily housekeeping barely cleaned the room. Carpets in the hallway were dirty. Only one resturant with limited food. Food was also barely there.

Bfast area is small and if there is a large party you wil be out of luck.

They have an ATM in teh hotel

There are a few good eating places a short ten minute walk away.

Pros: Friendly staff, both in hotel and restaurant. Not far from San Jose airport, so quick, easy taxi ride. Rooms clean, rather spacious, but nondescript. Attached to convention center, which is convenient if you're attending an event there. Walking distance to light rail station, which takes you downtown, to Cal Train, and spiting distance to airport. Right next to Great America theme park, so if you or your family are planning to go this hotel is in a great location. Wifi available throughout hotel, but is not free in lobby.

Cons: Airplanes pass overhead: I didn’t notice it in my room, but in restaurant’s patio area it was impossible to talk over the noise at times. Rather isolated: There’s another hotel across the street, but no other activity around the property. Constant noise from bathroom air vent: I’m not sure if this was just my room or the entire hotel, but it made it sound like other guests had water running in their tubs all day and all night. As a result I had recurring dreams of my bathroom being flooded with three inches of water. There's a coffee shop in the lobby, but when I needed it there was a long line and only one employee taking orders and making drinks.
