“Decent gujarati food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

Authentic gujarati restaurant with lots of varieties and food is good. Place is little too small and service needs an improvement. Make sure you are ahead of your order of chapati :):)

“Try the Thali Indian for a change”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

Great place if you like "Thali" type Indian food (see below for more). They were very crowded when we went and we had to wait over an hour (they gave some easy-to-eat food while we were waiting). It's a small place near El Camino Real. They serve only vegetarian (not all is vegan) Indian food.

Food quality and taste was good. Most servers were all great, very friendly and eager to give you what you ask for.

For those who don't know it, a "Thali" is different from those "Dosa to Tandoor" buffet restaurants offering Indian cuisine. A thali is a round, usually stainless steel plate with many small bowls in it that contain different curries etc. Overall it has as many items as there are in a typical Indian buffet, but many items are different from typical buffet menus and they serve you at the table here. You get rice, some type of Nan/Chapatis and a couple of dessert items. These are very common in most parts of India but are rarely seen outside India.

“Great Gujarati Indian vegetarian food, service & decor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Great Gujarati style Indian vegetarian food. They have a different menu everyday. All items on the menu are served to you in your thali as many times as you want. Weekend meals include 22 items & weekday meals include about 15. A thali had more than enough food for me & it was good. The thali includes a variety of items including Indian breads, Gujarati regional food, dals, rice items, sweets & chaas. The service was prompt & friendly. The restaurant & bathroom were clean. I can imagine that the wait can be long on weekend & parking tight.

“Gujarati food in US??”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

A picture of Mahatma Gandhi, with his words " Satyameva Jayate", meaning Truth is always Victorious, invites us as soon as we enter the restaurant. Ambience is great, a bit crowded though. Some authentic Gujarati murals adorn the walls.
Very courteous and friendly waiters. First, they serve "chaas", the flavored buttermilk, which was very good. Food was piping hot.then came the dhoklas, very soft and the vegetable pakoras, which was very crisp and tasty. It must have been served with green and sweet chutneys, but it did not come.
There was a green salad and a pickle, both very good. A roasted papad accompanied all these. Then the side dishes were served.......kadhi, dhal, methi matar malai, vegetable curry and white channa and also a paneer dish. Everything was so authentic, not too spicy , but retaining the flavors of Gujarat. They served the hot rotis and methi theplas, which were very homely. Then there was hot basmati rice too.
Best part was the dessert.....hot gulab jamnus, soaked in the sugar syrup. Even the dessert, they serve more in a courteous way. The best thing was, it was unlimited thali meal, but very reasonably priced.
One of the waiters said, they are looking to move to a bigger place, it is a must, according to me. On weekends, the thali is bigger with a few more dishes added, but it seems, too much crowd, even before they open, vying with one another to enter. I thanked my stars that we did not go on a weekend, to be a part of that chaos.
They must definitely move to a bigger place, if the demand is big.
