We live within a few blocks of Kobe, and in the past have really enjoyed eating there. But, tthings have changed. Blame new ownership, poor management, poor training of employess or whatever. This was a terrible experience.

We arrived at Kobe at 5:30PM on a Saturday. We were not greeted at the door. Once someone did come to acknowledge us, we managed to get a table. Someone else did come by the table after a while and we managed to get a pot of tea.

After about 15 minutes of waiting, I went to the front counter in an effort to fond someone willing to take our food order. After a few more minutes a very unhappy employee did come over and withou greeting us or smiling or anything positively social grudgingly took our order.

The soup and salad came out fairly quickly. (The salad no longer had the wonderful dressing used by the old Kobe. Instead it was watery and lacking in flavor.)

After another wait part of our food came out, delivered by the first employee (who had brought us the tea some time earlier). We had to ask for the remaing two dishes. One came out, Then we had to ask again for the second dish.

Most of the food was OK. But - they have no idea how to prepare even "Americanized" sushi dishes. The fish and other ingrediants were randomly cut. The rolls were even cut to the same length. And forget any concerns about "presentation". They had none.

Remember the tea? Well, it was quite cold by now. Heaven forbid we wanted a fresh pot.

When we were done we asked for take-home boxes for the leftovers. The lady who took our orders eventually came around behind me and tossed a couple of boxes on the table.

Needless to say - there was no way I was going to trust her to take my credit card and charge the bill. Instead I paid at the front counter. No tip tonight! They did not earn it.

Guees we will never go back there again. Hopefully the word will get around the neighborhood quickly.
