“Nice enough..great central location. Walk to dinner/shops/breakfast/wharf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2011

What you can expect from a Holiday Inn Express....although this property is built in a historic old building. VERY close to everything in central Santa Barbara. We walked to Jitters Coffee shop for a coffee, a new crepe place for breakfast, and out for sushi along the main drag. Then the opposite way a few blocks to the wharf. We arrived on Sunday so street parking overnight was free, just had to be moved by 10:15 AM.
Hotel staff was friendly, offering to help with dinner reservations etc. our room on first floor was a little dark, with two small windows looking into the parking courtyard. Closet is only a small cupboard. Room is clean, bathroom also clean, plenty of good towels.
Nice place...not elegant but functional and location is fantastic.

We were in SB to chk out UCSB campus. Arrived on Amtrak which was 3-4 blks away from the hotel. The hotel is in a fantastic location, near both the Stearns Wharf and State Street/Paseo Nuevo mall. Breakfast was simple- sausages, scrambled eggs, bagels/muffins, and cereal. I did rent a car to drive to UCSB- parking was reasonable at $9 per night and there is a valet to help you esp when lot was full. All in all in it was a good hotel in a great location!!!

First impression lasts - very friendly and helpfull staff at front desk. Good location, easy walking distance to shops or harbour. Nice rooms, but not much of a view at the back anyway. Parking costs extra. Breakfast ok with a decent basic selection. Would stay again.

Overall, this place was good for the value.... Extremely close to State st. And only a short distance to the wharf and the harbor ( p.s... Go to brophy bros for baked clams...) and within short driving range to the Mission. However, I found a long dark hair in the bathtub upon arrival ( and I have short blonde hair)... But looking past that, I only stayed here for one night and would recommend it for anyone passing through Santa Barbara.

First of all my wife and I used Priority Club Rewards points to stay at Holiday Inn Express Santa Barbara. The customer service of Priority Club was not very helpful at all, in fact rude. The manager at the hotel worked out everything with PC which in our opinion goes above and beyond, this is the reason for the excellent rating for service. Even if we did not use PC points to stay, the per night rate was not all that bad, especially for the location of the hotel.

As stated in the title the location of this hotel is ideal if you want to enjoy all that State Street offers, it is only 1.5 "short" blocks away. We stayed a Tuesday night which was the night when the SB Farmers Market which made the State Street experience even more fun.

Overall we enjoyed the hotel experience and highly recommend a stay here when enjoying Santa Barbara.

Room Tip: Avoid the handicap room if it is not required.

We stayed here as a family in July and had a wonderful stay. We had two rooms - located opposite each in the hall - one fo rthe 3 kids and one for us.
Rooms were large and spacious and well appointed and the beds very comfortable. We had pre ordered rooms on the top floor based on reviews on this site and they were as arranged when we arrived.
The hotel is n a great location v close to al the action of State St.
Staff were v friendly and overall we left with a terrific feeling and felt we would like to come and would stay here again.
