“Clean, comfortable, safe.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We only had one night here. There is a real style to the rooms which I would describe as Eastern block Europe meets glamourous Hollywood meets motel. The rooms are huge and face into a court yard. The building is square with two sides on busier streets and one side much quieter. There is lots of vegetation which I like in a hotel, and views of the mountains. There is a pool and hot tub which people were using, though I did not. The hotel is cheap and its easy to come and go. We ate out and I cannot recommend the dining or the breakfast places we tried. There was some noise from the hotel ( kids yelling in balcony area?) that disturbed my sleep, but no traffic noise :) The location is away from the downtown Santa Barbara which is 5 minutes drive. Not sure you could walk, but easy parking downtown.

Room Tip: There is a quieter side to this hotel, I'm not sure how it works with direction, but probably if...

My boyfriend and I made last-minute plans to go to Santa Barbara during President's day weekend. Most of the hotels I checked required a two-night minimum stay, and we were only planning to stay for one night. The hotels that did not have a two-night minimum were booked. I called Lemon Tree Inn to see if there was anything available for one night, and to my surprise they had availability for one night. I booked it immediately for $165 - a decent rate considering it was a long weekend. When I arrived, they honored the AAA rate, and I got a discount. The rooms feel like motel rooms - basic amenities, thin walls, water temperature in the shower was sporadic and kept changing. However, the restaurant and pool area are much nicer than anything at a standard motel. We did not actually eat at the restaurant, but it looked nice. The front desk staff was nice. Our stay was comfortable enough for what we wanted - a place to sleep after a whole day of wine tasting. The location is about 3 miles away from the downtown area and beaches, but it's a short cab ride to get to the main shopping area on State St. and to the beach. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are looking for something basic and affordable and do not plan to spend much time at the Inn.

I stay here when I come to Santa Barbara on business. It's an older 60's vintage but refurbished hotel/motel. It has a great pool and ambiance for relaxing in the beautiful Santa Barbara sunshine. The restaurant, the Crocodile, is excellent. The beds are OK (not as good as Hampton Inn) and the rooms are fine. You can walk to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for your latte, to Trader Joes, CVS, Ralph's market. It's not in the hub of activity in Santa Barbara but it's on State Street, which will take you to downtown Santa Barbara in 10 minutes. All in all, a good value. I'm coming back.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms overlook the pool. First floor rooms can get some noise from the room above.

Stayed two nights and the first was bothered by the thin walls--could hear everything clearly said next door. And in the morning, the hair from door sounded as if it were in my room. The hotel w hardly full but they located a family with children next door. The room was modest with a reasonable tv but no refrig or microwave. The lighting was just adequate. The grounds and pool was nice. The adjacent restaurant is over priced--breakfast for over thirty dollars. Overall, ok but would check other hotels on upper State street.

Hello James S. From Los Angeles,
Thank you for reviewing our Inn. I am sorry you were disturbed by noise from the neighboring room. Our Hotel has some guest suites with connecting doors which are great when two rooms are rented together, but noisy neighbors can create a disturbance. We are always happy to relocate guests to other quiet rooms, our front desk staff is on duty 24 hours a day and eager to assist in any way.
You also mentioned the cost of Breakfast in our on-site Gourmet Restaurant and Bar 'Crocodile'. Our meals have a very reasonable price range from $7.50 to $13.50. Please contact our Food and Beverage manager if you feel you were charged in error, but we do not have any offerings in the $20 or $30 range for breakfast.
Our property offers exceptional values in the off-season, and we are probably the best value in-Season as well for Santa Barbara for this type of Hotel. Please enjoy our new websites that accurately describe both of our Santa Barbara properties, and drop us a call or e-mail for information or questions about us.

Stayed here for 1 night on road trip from LA to San Francisco. A fairly basic mid-century hotel/motel, but well maintained and lovingly restored/refurbished to a very good standard.

Room was well maintained and good quality. Bed was comfortable and perfectly adequate.

We ate in the restaurant in the evening, which was good. Staff were very helpful and friendly at all times.

Great value for money, would recommend to all.

Good choice for budget travellers, nice and celan property with really friendly staff. The location is quiet but not within walking distance of major attractions and beaches in Santa Barbara. Nice pool area. My room was OK, quite modern and very clean, the bathroom same. The food in the restaurannt was top quiality and fresh.

We had the King Jacuzzi Deluxe room. The Jacuzzi isn't worth to write anything about (It's just a bath) but the room itself is big, nice decorated and very clean with a nice balcony overlooking the garden. In the room you have a comfortable kingsize bed TV, coffee/tea making and safe. There's no fridge or microwave and the fridge I really missed during my stay.
The swimming pool is really nice place to relax and feels with the palm trees like a little oases.
The check inn was quick and adequate and parking is not a problem.
It;s very good value for your money.
