“Rude Receptionist”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

My friends and I went to SB for my friends birthday party. The first thing that you see is a very dull room. The sheets smelled bad. Poor costumer service. Indian looking lady was yelling at me and in front of the costumers. We quickly packed up our bags and went to the hotel right next door. SO much better!!
Do not go to this Inn!!

Room Tip: Go to the hotel right across the street!

Just got back from 3 days in Santa Barbara. It was a last minute trip and I was very pleased with the decision to stay here. A 5 minute walk to the ocean, 15 minute walk to State St. which seems to be the hub of Santa Barbara. Breakfast was included--and they have a waffle maker! Very friendly staff who are super helpful. The room was comfortable and had balcony for catching the sun and ocean breeze. Thanks Avania for a wonderful stay in Santa Barbara!

Right from talking to Samantha on the phone to book this place to meeting her in person....she was very nice and welcoming. This Inn was so close to the beach and pier....awesome restaurants...and downtown was so close also.....the breakfast was very well done! It was the only place out of 5 hotels we stayed in Cali that offered breakfast.....yummy fresh waffles!
It was also the most reasonable priced hotel too!
Thanks Sam...from the crew in Toronto!

We arrived after driving up from LA, it had free parking which was nice. The reception staff wasn't very welcoming but then again, 2 days before, they let me amend the reservation from 2 nights to 1 night at no additional cost, which was nice. We paid $160 for the Saturday night we were there, which was slightly more than what we would like to pay. The breakfast was nice, it has scrambled eggs, cereal, muffins, patries and a waffle machine.

If the price of room was lesser, I will stay again.

Booked this hotel stay as part of a short holiday in the US and was one of 3 hotels used. The Avania Inn is very well located being a short walk from the harbour area in one direction and downtown/pier area in the other. The hotel is close to an electric shuttle bus stop too. We used the off road parking facilities which they have on both sides of the hotel. We sampled the continental breakfast which had access to a reasonable choice of continental style breakfasts. The room was ample in size with good clean facilities. The only slight criticism is that the dark decor of the hotel leads to rooms being unsurprisingly dark .

Stayed for two nights which was enough. Previous comments about the dirty carpets were correct. The receptionist was not very welcoming when we arrived. When my husband went down to ask for a second glass as we only had one, it seemed too much trouble for her. The towels had holes in them, the bathroom door looked as if a previous guest had kicked a hole in it, it had been filled with a filler but hadn't been painted. When I went to check out the morning of leaving it was the same grumpy receptionist, who when I asked for a receipt told me it was the same as I was given when I checked in. I needed to know exactly what our credit card was being charged not what the checking in receipt had on it. My advice is to choose elsewhere to stay. This was one of eight places we stayed in our 3 week holiday and we had no complaints about any of the others.

We stayed here for one night and it was a greal deal with breakfast and parking included. It is walking distance to the Downtown (the pier and State Street). Rooms were very up to date, clean and had good water pressure. Definitely would stay again.
