“A pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

What a great find! This is an older hotel, but it is very well maintained. The rooms were clean and updated with very comfortable king size beds and the grounds were very nice as well. The interior courtyard area's pool and pond area were an unexpected extra. I stayed in early December and appreciated that the hotel was fully decorated for the holidays as well.

Morning breakfast was pretty standard but it was good, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Situated just outside Santa Barbara on 101 @ the Turnpike Road exit, you get a nice place to stay without having to pay extra to stay right in the middle of town. I will definitely stay here again.

Dear Ron R,

Thank you so much for mentioning about your great find here in beautiful Santa Barbara. Our fabulous staff and groundskeepers do a magnificent job keeping our property up to its highest levels. Our Cleaning staff works diligently on maintaining our guest rooms and they always make sure that the rooms are spotless for each and every check in at 3pm. Sylvia who is our Head of Housekeeping is the creative one that decorates our hotel and she sure does a magnificent job each year.

We are excited to read that you will be returning to beautiful Santa Barbara and will be choosing to stay with us once again. Please give us a call when you know the dates since we do tend to sell out on weekends.

Great location and modest price for Santa Barbara

Pros:
The grounds are lovely and the location is perfect. The breakfast is fine for a quick bite. The maid service left refills of shampoo, conditioner and soap daily. Laundry room available for use.

Cons:
We were disappointed with the room size and cleanliness. The Bathroom baseboard were very dirty and the heater in our room could not be adjusted so that we had to get blankets for the night and turn the heater off or else the room was like an oven.

The front desk did offer to move us across the hall, but with 3 people and luggage unpacked we opted to stay in the room for the second night. The hotel manager did discount our room which is why I can not say too much more negative, and they did try to resolve the problem with an alternate room.

All I can only say, is if you do want to stay at this particular hotel don't prepay like we did so that after you check out your room you have the option to move to another hotel if this one does not suit you.

Restaurants near by that we ate at:
Fresco Cafe & Rudy's Mexican (off the Fairfield Exit 12 immediate turn L follow the street until you see the strip malls and shops) were excellent. That exit has banks, groceries and a Trader Joes.

Fun drives:

1. The foothills drive (turn R out of hotel and follow road straight up to foothills drive) follow it up and you will find a botanical garden and a turn off for the old mission.

2. Drive along the beach and see all the beautiful homes in Hope Ranch and some beautiful views. Take a break when you get to Arroyo Burro Beach. Get a drink or eat at the Boathouse at Hendry's for casual dining on the beach and some amazing views!

Exit the highway at Hope/La Cumbre Road pass through the wrought iron Hope Ranch arch and follow the road until you reach the pier in Downtown SB

Dear Travelwithnise,

Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us and for mentioning our great location and modest price; we pride ourselves on being the Best Value Hotel in the Santa Barbara and Goleta area. We also appreciate you mentioning our lovely lush gardens and lagoons along with our Deluxe Continental Breakfast.

We wish that we would have exceeded your expectations for your stay with us, but it sounds like we still have a bit to do before your next stay. It is our goal to always have each and every room spotless for our guests prior to check in and after reading this review; we went in to the room for additional cleaning. We have great Front Desk staff and they will always do whatever they can to assist our guests as we work towards WOWing them with our Award Winning Hotel. We do apologize for not having your room up to your standards and our standards prior to your check in.

Thank you for mentioning the fun things to do in our area, I am sure that future guests will look into these Restaurants and Drives. We hope that if the future brings you back to beautiful Santa Barbara that you will give us a call and let us have another shot at exceeding your expectations if you stay with us. We would love to earn your business in the future.

Great location just off 101 with easy access to UCSB, the airport, restaurants and shops. The room was very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Grounds are nicely landscaped with a heated pool and hot tub. The continental breakfast was the best I have encountered. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: No freeway noise in rooms on the backside but the view is not as nice as the pool side.

Dear Trilady76,

Thank you for your review of our 3 Time Award Winning Hotel. We are blessed to have such a wonderful central location and to be so close to everything in the Santa Barbara and Goleta area.

Our wonderful cleaning staff does a magnificent job preparing all of our guest rooms for our guaranteed 3pm check-ins. Our lush gardens and tropical lagoons are home to our Ducks, Turtles, Koi, Goldfish, and Sticks the Egret. The Year-Round Solar Heated Pool and Whirlpool is always a bit hit with our guests as a place to rest, relax, and unwind.

Thank you for mentioning our Complementary Deluxe Continental Breakfast with all of the fresh pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, hot and cold cereals, and made to order waffles.

We appreciate you choosing to stay with us and look forward to your return in the future.

We were so glad to get off 101.. The hotel was super clean and the bed was like slipping in to a peace of heaven. The breakfast was awesome make your own waffles and an assortment of fruit bagels any thing you could want in a continental breakfast. although it was to chilly to swim the pool looked very refreshing.
