“Comfy and Warm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2011

Brisas Del Mar is a charming hotel, adjacent to everything Santa Barbara has to offer. We stayed in the two room suite, which had a full-size kitchen. It was really like staying in a small apt. The accommodations are clean, neat, well-maintained, yet keeping that cool old style in check. It was my birthday, so I was surprised to see a bottle of wine and BD card on my arrival. The staff are amazing! Super friendly, helpful and ready to answer your questions. In fact they far exceeded my expectations. Continental breakfast, always fresh and delicious. Mid-day wine and cheese. Evening cookies and milk. There's a great cozy fireplace in the lobby with plush couches where you can sit and relax. Ultimately, one of the best experiences and better birthdays in a long time. Thank you Brisas Del Mar! I will be back.

Room Tip: Get a suite with a kitchen, so you can avoid eating out all the time.

We stayed here in Santa Barbara for two nights. Brisas del Mar was a very good choice of lodging. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and quiet - the decor is a bit tired and dated, eg the TV is the big bulky old fashioned type - not a sleek flat screen.

Service is excellent. The hotel offers a lot of little extras - for example a wine and cheese reception, milk and cookies in the evening, coffee and tea all day, free bikes etc. There is also a nice pool area and a well set up exercise room. Another plus is the guest laundry.

Breakfast is very pleasant - a good selection of cereal, fresh fruit, pastries and bakery, as well as hard boiled eggs. It is served in the spacious reception area (complete with a fireplace) - there are only four tables inside (several others out on the patio), but there was never a problem finding a spot.

The location is an easy stroll to the beach and the wharf area, and not too far from the main street and shopping.

Room Tip: I think it's always best to have a room without neighbours above - so rooms over the parking are...

A really lovely hotel, in a charming city. We had two rooms for our party, a twin room and a suite. Both were just great, the suite was like a little apartment with a fully kitted out kitchen, dining table and sitting room - wonderful! The beds were all very comfy and everyone reported a great night of sleep. The evening cheese and wine was much enjoyed, as were the milk and cookies - and we borrowed a few movies from the dvd library.
The pool area looked great, but we had all forgotten to pack our swimming togs!
Breakfast was great and we were only sorry that we could not stay longer on our trip.
Highly recommended.

My husband and I went on a last minute trip to Santa Barbara and were having a difficult time finding a place to stay. I called Brisas as a last resort, they had one room, the penthouse suite available and gave us a very good rate. Everything about this place was a pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly and helpful, we had cookies and milk upon check in, and the room was wonderful. We travel a lot, and this hotel room felt like a home away from home. We had a private patio, fireplace, living room, full kitchen and a huge bedroom that was tastefully decorated. The next day, they were booked completely, and were going to move us to a partner hotel, but ended up rearranging reservations and we got to stay :) We spent the afternoon riding the free bikes, then enjoying there wine and cheese at sunset. I would definetly recommend the King Suite at this hotel, we loved it!

Possibly the most approachable and friendly staff we met throughout our entire US trip and that says a lot given the generally high standards expected in this area from American hotels. Situated in a nice area very short distance from beach although slightly longer to State Street (which to be honest is no great shakes anyway). There is a college baseball park just down the road and loved watching the training and games.
Some of the rooms are a little dark largely because of a large screening wall built I think to obscure what I think are staff quarters attached to the site.
Highly recommend Emilios restaurant and the Brewhouse for food although the latter may be a bit loud for some peoples tastes!

I was traveling with my husband, parents and eight month old son. We booked into a one bedroom suite at Brisas del Mar, and did not want to leave the next morning! The staff were simply wonderful (Pam and Gustavo at the front desk in particular - thanks!) and really went the extra mile to make our stay a great one. Besides the wine & cheese, cookies & milk and free bicycle and DVD usage, we asked for an orange for the baby at the breakfast and were told they weren't really in season, so they weren't serving any...but five minutes later, they came by with one that they had picked off the tree! And the baby loved it :)

Suite was clean, large and nicely decorated. And it was nice and close walk to State Street and the wharf. We loved Santa Barbara and it was in part because of the lovely time at brisas del mar!!

We stayed here for one night and thought it was great! The room was clean and large. They provided coffee and bottled waters. The landscaping was well maintained and the breakfast was good for a continental breakfast. We would definitely stay here again! We actually wanted to extend our stay however they were full. Thus we upgraded to a 3 star place and what a mistake! We had paid much less at the Brisas Del Mar and the accommodations were much better!
