“Run, don't walk, to another hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Wish I could give this hotel less than one star. We came to S.B. for a wedding and the whole town was booked so we gave this place a try based on Yelp and Trip Advisor recommendations.

Let's start with the locker room smell. Absolutely disgusting. And when we complained, their answer was to mask it with stinky perfumey carpet powder that set all of our allergies ablaze. We had to keep the doors open to clear out the smell, only to discover an old man (guest from another room) hanging over the balcony watching me undress. Again, my complaint went completely unanswered.

They promised to change our room, but promptly forgot and never called us back.
Just sticking with the room, the 70s called and wants their furniture and mirrors back. My back is aching from the bed. No central air and the room air conditioner was loud and froze out my son, who was trying to sleep in the bed next to it. The bathroom was clean, but tiny and so outdated. And the walls were paper thin so we heard every toilet in the place flush.

We love Santa Barbara, but this place was horrible and we won't be back. And, after the city tax, we spent over $500 for two nights. I would expect a place like this to be about $69 per night, not $265.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

Really lovely Spanish style hotel, a good swimming pool with lounge terrace around it! Located on fairly busy main road about 10 mins bus ride from centre of Santa Barbara. Convenient shopping centre just across the road, includes supermarket and a branch of Macey's.
Our party was greeted with a champagne reception on arrival, much appreciated as we had been travelling all day. Rooms are spacious and have TV, fridge and microwave. Fresh fruit and bottled water are provided in the room.
There is a pleasant restaurant on site.
We experienced noise from the car park at the rear of our room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room towards the rear of the hotel and preferably away from the car park.

It was a pleasure staying at the BW Pepper-tree Inn! The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful upon arrival, management was great, and even the housekeeping made an effort to say good morning to us. Our room was clean, and nicely furnished. The high-speed wi-fi worked great, and was free! We used the pool and spa which was noticeably clean and clear. The hotel is within walking distance to the mall across the street, shopping, and a number of restaurants. There is an onsite restaurant/cafe with great food, very nice breakfasts, and an outdoor sitting area. The on-site management keeps the Inn running well, and looking great! We were very happy with our stay, would highly recommend this as a great place to stay in Santa Barbara, and will definitely be coming back again soon.

Room Tip: The first floor rooms have a sliding glass door with access to the inner court area and pool.

Very nice clean comfortable room, good location for shopping and restaurants.Spent 2 relaxing nights. Courtyard and pool area is well maintained. Enjoyed jacuzzi & sitting out with friends around the pool. Also enjoyed sitting right outside our room where you have view of the pool area but unable to see guests on either side. The front desk is very helpful and friendly and the woman on duty gave us 2 excellent suggestions. Along with comfortable beds and pillows there is a very large flat screen TV. And to top it off, there is wrapped candy, fruit and bottled water left daily in the room, free.

This place was a delight to stay at - many great features: Outstanding Wi-Fi connection and speed. Large HDTV and DirecTV. Refrigerator and microwave. Comfortable overstuffed chairs, one being a recliner. Outdoor patio area with chairs, secluded yet looking out on pool and landscaped lawn. Excellent bathroom facilities - vigorous flowing shower, nice fluffy towels and excellent brand of toiletries. If you're staying on the first floor you can park right in front of your room. They even clean your car windows in the morning. One negative is they don't serve any complementary breakfast but there is a restaurant on-site and four supermarkets (Vons, Gelsons, Whole Foods, and Trader Joes) nearby. The price for the room is high but then again this is Santa Barbara and it comes with the territory.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room so you can park your car right in front of your room.

The hotel rooms are showing their age a bit, but the place is well-maintained and very clean. The complex is really beautiful with lovely landscaping and Spanish-style architecture. I can't say enough good things about the staff. They were so helpful and friendly, and they always made sure plenty of hot, strong coffee was available in the lobby each morning (big coffee drinker here). I slept well at night: the bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. Would recommend this place to anyone, and we will be back.

Room Tip: End-unit room very quiet.

We stayed at the Best Western for two nights whilst touring the California Coast. The Hotel itself is quite basic, but is very well maintained with lovely gardens and pool facilities. Our room was on the second floor overlooking one of the pools and had everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable.

The only downside I would say to this hotel is it's location as it is approx 4 miles from downtown Santa Barbara. We did walk on our first day but admitted defeat and got a taxi back which cost $25 including tip. On our second day we made use of the public transport and caught a bus from the stop which was minutes away from the hotel (Bus numbers 6 & 11) and it cost $1.75 per person each way....definately the way to go.

Santa Barbara itself is a lovely place with lots of restaurants and some excellent shopping opportunities.....we spent a fortune :)

I would recommend this hotel if you are on a budget, but if I went back again I think I would try and stay a little bit nearer to the town centre.
