“Simple but comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

The room itself was fine without being anything special; clean, decent size with everything you'd expect. The service at the front desk was great, we were shown where everything in Santa Barbara was and how to get to it. We were also checked in early (12:30pm) after driving quite a long way which was nice. The hotel has good amenities including a pool, although it's much better to go down to the beach where all the action is. Our stay also included a free breakfast and free wifi, and I really felt the hotel took care of us and made a lot of effort. Good service!

Location wise you definitely need to have a car to get to State Street where all the shops are and the beach is at the end of. It's just one long, straight road but it's still about a 10 minute drive from one end to the other. Overall this is a great hotel for anyone who isn't planning to spend much time there other than to sleep, I'd happily stay there again.

This was the first stopover on our 15 day California road trip. The reception and check in was easy, fast and efficient and we were soon in our room after a long trip. The room had a small balcony overlooking the pool and was an ideal place to sit and chill. The provision of bottled water, fruit and sweets was a pleasant find.

The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a nigh sleeping on the plan. The bathroom was well planned and laid out with an efficient shower - all a bonus and no excuse for getting this wrong.

The pool was a of good size with a selection of tables, chairs and loungers and the ice machine at the side made this a good place to relax.

Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, helpful and accommodating and proud of what they do - and with good cause. A cracking hotel - well done to all.

Room Tip: It looks like all the rooms are the same high standard

Adrian H, I am so pleased to read your comments about all of the amenities you enjoyed during your stay. Thank you for taking the time to let us know what you liked, sounds as though we provided everything you needed and much more. I do hope you enjoyed your extended travels throughout California, but secretly hope that Santa Barbara was your favorite  Warm regards, Chivaun Clark.

We stayed here 1 night, decent hotel. We had a car, so we drove to the pier. But it would take 1 hour to walk. So if you do not have a car, try to stay in a closer hotel (to the beach) We did not use the swimming pool, only problem we had, was the AC outside was very noisy. The staff was nice, the free coffee, apples, water in-room and lobby coffee was very nice. No problems besides A/C noise.

I have to fly out to Santa Barbara once a year for work. I always stay at the Best Western Peppertree because they are friendly, accommodating and it is walkable to my meeting, shopping and plenty of restaurants.

If your kids are pool lovers, this is the place to stay! Spacious, comfortable rooms true to images on website. On-site restaurant & good menu when the kids don't want out of the pool! Pool and grass landscape perfect for children to enjoy. Property is small drive to main attractions in Santa Barbara. However their prices @ $200 beat all the beach site properties and room sizes which cost upward of $385.

This is a lovely place stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. Balcony overlooked the pool which was also lovely and very quiet. Food was lovely we ate in the restaurant at night and staff were lovely and helpful. Parking is free here too. Beds are quite small though and the A/C a little noisy. We got the bus to downtown Santa Barbara which is a nice little place to visit. Nice and quiet at night and got a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool upstairs

My partner and I enjoyed four nights at this hotel, getting a wedding party discount. Although the decor is a little dated, the beds are extremely comfortable and have the softest, finest sheets I have ever experienced. Due to the drought the area is experiencing, we tried to reuse most of our towels and kept the same sheets, as suggested by cards in the room. I would recommend others help out by doing the same. Temperature controls and fan worked really well to provide cool nights and white noise for sleeping. The only irritating thing was how the bathroom lights would come on in the middle of the night when using the bathroom, due to a motion sensor. It would be better to just have a small night light plug in.
The staff here are very friendly and helpful, great with directions. They will get you mapquest print outs if you need them. The Inn is not within walking distance of downtown or the beach, but it has a quiet location. Ask for a room overlooking the pool from the second floor. Restaurant across the driveway just so so. If you want a great breakfast, try the Savoy Cafe downtown. They even have gluten free waffles!

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor are quieter, although there are no elevators. Try to get a room overlooki...
