“A Time To and Place to Relax and Enjoy Life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

My wife and I just love the Bath Street Inn. Once you meet Marie (the hostess and chef) you'll kick back and relax like the old days in Mayberry...Aunt Bee times. The rooms are so nostalgic, romantic and clean. The food is primo. They serve cakes, cookies and other delights in the late afternoon...offer wine and cheese at sundown...and cook the best breakfast's we've had...ever. The French toast is to-die-for...and the Spanish omelette is one you wish you could ask for more and more. We took the recipe home with us. Everything is homemade...right on the spot. But most importantly, the homemade feel is provided by the staff...especially Marie. We now feel like family...a place we need to visit as often as we can. And remember, all of the food, beverage and hospitality is included in the price of the rooms. You will get pampered...and hopefully put down your cell phones, smart phones and internet connections for a few days. This is a total "getaway". Making it even better is that you're only a few blocks from State Street. You can walk there and choose from at least 30 restaurants as you walk down to the beach/pier. And if you don't want to walk, the electric shuttle bus is only 25 cents (That's right 25 cents) each way. We took two shuttles to the beach and the zoo. Roundtrip for 2 is $2...for seniors $1. This is the best of Santa Barbara if you want to get away from the maddening crowd.

Room Tip: Check out the website. Each room has a different décor...no room is alike.

After spending a few days driving Highway 1 south and seeing couple of stantard hotels, with standard lobbys and breakfasts, this place came to us as a blessing. The Victorian style with different rooms is a sight itself let alone sleeping in one of them.(Have forgotten the name of the room, but it was upstairs and beautiful)

The ladies took very good care of us. They always had a time for a chat. Now, I´m not English, but I personally enjoyed the beautiful language and wording and phrases in (was it Marty´s?) speech. That a hotel can offer this kind of experience - thats something new to me. The same sophisticated touch could be felt in little details elsewhere in the hotel too.

Breakfast was extremely good and original. Home-made, needless to say. Same goes with the 5 o´clock tea. Because of baking, there is often beautiful and homely smell of pies and bakings present in the house. And you get to eat those delicacies too.

In order to get to the heart of SB you need to walk a little. For us that was not a problem. Will definitely walk back again.

My daughter and I were in town to visit the U of C at Santa Barbara and wanted a place that was near the shopping district and beach yet not too far from campus. We had to make a last minute change to our reservation because our trip was delayed following the Asiana Air accident at San Francisco Airport; however, Marie was most accommodating. Also we needed to leave early in the morning on our check-out day and our hostesses prepared an early breakfast for us so we could head out to our next college visit. From the warm scent of muffins to the quaint rooms to the proximity to SB shops, the Bath Street Inn was perfect. The little reading nooks on the landings and the wine tastings/afternoon snacks were also nice added benefits of staying there.

My husband and I stayed at the Bath Street Inn Bed & Breakfast for the weekend and we really enjoyed our stay.

It's an old Victorian style house with lots of charm. The rooms are themed and decorated in the traditional Victorian style.

We stayed in the Jacaranda
room which is located in the summer house which is behind the house itself between the main house and the outside breakfast area.

Marty is very nice and goes out of her way to make you feel very welcome.

The baked goods are delicious and the granola at breakfast time is the best I've ever had!

There is private parking which is a plus and if you don't mind walking a few blocks, State Street is about 6 blocks away and has lots of shops and restaurants to choose from.

Carlito's Cafe & Cantina has great mexican food and has live music on Saturday nights.

If your looking for a quaint bed and breakfast that makes you feel like you stepped back in time for a little while, this would be the place.

My mom and I visited for 3 nights and absolutely loved the place. From the moment we stepped in the door, the service was warm and welcoming. We arrived during tea time with homemade desserts of cakes, cookies and candies that were delicious. Wine and cheese hour was at 5:30, if we could find room after our tea and desserts. Breakfast was a major meal with fruit, yogurt and homemade granola, a main entree and muffins. They packed our fresh muffins in a ziploc for us to take with us which was so thoughtful. We snacked on them later with a piece of fruit since we couldn't eat a lunch after such a bountiful breakfast.
The rooms were very clean and decorated as you would want a B&B to be. Each room is different, ours had a great balcony, which we really enjoyed. The location is about a 15 min walk from the shops/restaurants on State St. Parking was available onsite. We can't wait to go back. A perfect stay!

Room Tip: Each room is different. The website is good for details for various rooms and they were very helpful...

The Inn was wonderfully situated in the neighborhoods of Santa Barbara. The Staff was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. In particular, they catered to my GF's dietary restrictions and remembered them the next morning; preparing a special breakfast to her needs.

The room was small but satisfactory and all the guests made us feel welcome. Would DEFINITELY return!!!

My Husband had never stayed at a Bed & Breakfast. Now he is spoiled rotten. Wants to get up and have a beautiful Breakfast served. Have a sweet treat in the afternoon and a glass of wine with cheese before dinner. Thanks to Debra and Marie who go above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one.
