“Italian lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013 via mobile

Decided to stop in Santa Barbara for a quick lunch. I had been here before. The salads were dressed with a light hand and delicious. The ravioli with brown butter sage sauce were as light as a cloud. Would return. The room as half full, so noise was not a problem. The tables are close together.

“Every dish brought us back to Florence!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

or even better! We were a party of 5, each ordered a different dish - yet all pleasantly surprise by how each and one of them offered an unique taste, and simply - yummy! The lobster risotto had sea urchin to adorn the rich flavor, and the appetizer calamari is a MUST. Thick, grilled, non-oil or flour, but just straight up squid in the most savory way. will def go back!

“Good Italian but stick to the pasta....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Have no problem with the noise and buzz commented on by previous reviewers - it's a busy place with a vibrant atmosphere. However the things they do best are the Italian classics, mainly pasta. The waitress was very good but over stretched and the kitchen let her down badly by sending out one of our main courses about 15 minutes after the others (and even they arrived in stages). They knocked the late dish off the bill but she shouldn't have been put in that position.
So be prepared for a bit of knockabout noise, stick to the simple dishes and you'll have a nice evening.

“Recommend!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We have been here a half dozen times and have not been disappointed. Yes, it is crowded and that can sometimes lead to longer waits, and it can be a bit noisy. But the food is excellent and priced about right. The ravioli in the brown butter sauce is a delight!

“Atrocious service, indifferent food, faux authentic ambience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

This is possibly the most inexplicably popular, routinely overrated restaurant in Santa Barbara. Other reviewers have commented on the crowded, noisy atmosphere- too many small rickety tables packed into two tiny rooms in ersatz imitation of an authentic rustic trattoria but on the few occasions I've eaten there I've also found the food to be indifferent, overpriced and over salted. The service is, not to put too fine a point on it, bad to atrocious. On my last visit the waiter, an unwholesome supercilious specimen with greasy thinning hair, elected for some reason, perhaps connected to a mistake at the pharmacy with his medications, to supply stubby little digestivo glasses with the wine ("something's happened to the dishwasher") before drizzling some Pinot Grigio into my lap. I understand from the restaurant web-site that the owner-chef is in the habit of referring to his long serving staff , Italian-style, as 'Family' - if that's the case he should consider putting his risible 'head waiter', Uncle Fredo in a boat and taking him on a very short fishing trip.
