We got off to a late start leaving our Solvang timeshare for a day in Santa Barbara, so we stopped at Cold Spring Tavern for lunch at the historic stagecoach stop. The restaurant is very rustic, with uneven floors, animal heads on the wall and a basic menu of burgers, sandwiches and salads for lunch -- with a few game items thrown in for good measure.
We had a BBQ tri-tip sandwich with salad and chili burger with potato salad. The BBQ sauce was a bit spicy for our palates, but not unbearably so. The chili burger was huge, but the chili was vastly underseasoned. Not only was there little heat, it needed a hearty dose of salt and pepper to perk up the flavor. The potato salad also was quite bland -- nowhere close to the great job Mrs. OJ does with that old standard!
Service was brisk, efficient and friendly. Overall, an OK lunch but nothing that will bring us back for a second visit.
