“Simply THE BEST!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

My family lives in Santa Barbara, but I live on the east coast. The FIRST place I want to go is La Super-Rica! #8 The Especial!! Everything is great, really, though. It is a bit out of the way, but it is worth finding. Count yourself lucky if there is only a short line...

“Fresh Tortillas! Home-made agua fresca!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

This isn't Taco Bell, thank goodness. Everything is made when you order it. You can watch the cook pat out tortillas that she grills along with your lunch. Because of this, it takes a few minutes to get your meal.

Everything we had was tasty. The 3 salsas were freshly-made...a little tame for my taste, but good quality.

The one thing that really stood out was the watermelon agua fresca. Hard to find anywhere that serves aguas frescas. They ladle out the watermelon puree and mix it with ice while you watch.

“Great Little Hole In the Wall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

We took Julia Child's recommendation more than 20 years ago and always come back whenever we're in the area. We even took the longer route to San Francisco in June just to stop for lunch here and only to find its closed on Wednesdays!
Don't know how to describe it. We're from Orange County so we have plenty of Mexican all around but this is unlike anything else we've found. If you love Mexican food, just try it. Order what seems good to you when you read the posted menu and you won't be sorry. Go early or expect long lines. And it is a hole in the wall. Nothing fancy at all. Don't think it's changed in 20 years!

“Greasy food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Food is good but a little on the greasy side. Prices are reasonable. There's a long line every lunch time, so plan to come early if you are going for lunch.

“Nighly over-rated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

,,living off coat-tails of Julia Child's recommendations -from 20 years ago. Over-priced for what you get. Quality average. Much better value-oriented Mexican restaurnats in SB.
