Description: We are a casual seafood house that is located right on the dock in the Santa Barbara Harbor. You’ll find a bustling scene of fisherman, young professionals and sand-sprinkled beach-goers nearly every night of the week at this true-blue waterfront institution. Dungeness crab cocktail, oysters on the half-shell and fried shrimp round out the “small” menu offerings. Fresh fish specials, such as grilled white sea bass from local waters, mahi mahi dusted in Cajun spices and pan-blackened local yellowtail, are highlights on the “long” menu. No matter what, libations are always in order at this locals’ favorite gathering place. Everyone is welcome at Brophy's, hope to see you soon.

“Great View, Very Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Seat outside! The only downsides to this place are the wait and the noise. A very good value. Great views of the Harbor and the mountains.

“Great Fish House”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

Try the Cioppino, it's awesome. Everything else is good as well including the chowder. A little expensive but fresh fish is expensive and you wouldn't want to eat seafood that wasn't fresh.

“Locals favorite with just OK food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

No doubt a charming location and a local tradition but the food at this restaurant is just average. Go for the views of the SB port and the local scene, sit outside if you can.

“A great place to eat on our last night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

We were recommended this restaurant by someone who lives in Santa Barbara and we were not disappointed. We got there early as we were told they did not take bookings. We were given a table outside overlooking the harbour which was great. We had taken plenty of warm clothes in case it cooled down, which it did, but there were electric heaters which came on so we did not get cold.

Food was great. We chose fish for our main courses and these came with a complimentary starter of clam chowder or salad. We both had the chowder, it was the first time either of us had tried it, and it was absolutely delicious! We then had our main courses, scampi cooked in a white wine sauce and sea bream, both excellent. By this time we were feeling replete - just as well as the restaurant does not serve desserts!

Service was good, perhaps a little too swift, but as it is such a popular place I guess they need to free up tables as soon as they can.

Altogether a great place with quality seafood and a buzz about it.

“A local dockside experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

We were told this is where the locals go for fish so we thought we'd try the place. The place was jam packed with tables very close together and the noise level to match. For a casual eattery we expected the decorum to be hectic so took it in stride. The food was ok, not spectacular, given the abundance of fresh fish in the area. Most every thing was fried in some manner; deep fried, pan fried, etc. Having said that - the fried calamari was some of the best I've had in a long time.
