“I like this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

It is true what other reviewers have said; close to train tracks, small rooms and no elevator but I like this place. The staff was very nice at all times. The location is great, you can walk to the beach or up State Street to stores and restaurants. It is very artsy. There is a restaurant being built right in the building which will be very nice.

Room Tip: There are two outdoor patios on the second floor with TVs.

“It was fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

I traveled here with four friends on a girls trip. We traveled from San Diego by train. The hotel is within easy walking distance. The place is spotlessly clean. Decorated very artfully. And the beds are very comfortable. The staff we interjected with we're top notch. Robert , Brandon,Frank,Carmen,Daniel and Johathan. We're extremely helpful. They assisted us with all our needs including great guides to the sites in town. There is a free happy hour each evening from 5 to 7 pm. The local wine they serve is deliciouse. I would gladly tecond this hotel. To anyone

“Ridiculously small rooms and other flaws”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012 via mobile

The hotels of the Indigo chain usually stand for pragmatic, stylish and affordable rooms. This hotel offers rooms which are more like shoe boxes - once you managed to open all your luggage there is little space left to move and the room is completely cluttered. Beds are comfy but for some the nearby train line ( that certainly affects all hotels in this area) may be a major disturbance. We had a twin room that "looked" out on a wall a meter away - felt more like a garage. The bathroom takes the concept of compactness to a new level, one that is only good for a night in transit but never for an extended stay. There is no lift to the 2nd floor so be prepared to carry your bags.

This hotel is only acceptable because it is new and clean, yet all fixtures already show signs of wear and use, indicating how cheaply they were made. We stayed on reward points of the Priority Club, thus cannot complain about the price, but if I had to pay around 200USD or more for this room I would have been seriously offended. Definitely not a place to come back to, even though the front desk staff are friendly and helpful.

“The last time I gave this kind of review the rates went up!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Oh well. I gotta call it like I see it. This is our new favorite spot in SB. First and foremost is the fact that they are not yet gouging tourists for 3 bills a night. When that happens remove a star because the one of the best features is value for location. This is indeed a small and uber hip new Hotel one black from the beach and directly on State Street. Rooms are in fact European small but we actually liked it. I would not recommend a twin but a King or Queen with a a patio is plenty roomy for a weekend. Location, location location. Price, price, price. Staff was great. Trains were not a problem at all. In fact its a plus. Leave your car behind and take Amtrack and roll one block and your home at the Indigo. LOVED THIS PLACE. Won't love it if prices start to exceed 250 a night. If that happens the doubletree and hyatt on the beach would be glad to take your money and give u more space. So...until this place is found, its our favorite. Its not the best in town. But for the price, its the best. Even if they raised the prices this would still in my view be my first choice so long as I got a king room with a patio. Twin room is like a cruise ship cabin. Tiny beds. But you are only sleeping there.

Room Tip: Restaurant is coming soon. So no room service yet. You dont need it. Your right on State Street. No...

We are so glad you liked the small footprint of the rooms, and the uber hip atmosphere. We promise to keep the rates reasonable for you!

“Tiny rooms, paper-thin walls”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

I am amazed that very few people are pointing out the fact that the rooms are tiny. And by tiny I mean, impossible to get around the room without bumping into furniture. It is roughly the size of my closet at home (and my closet is not that big). The shower is right next to the toilet. I am not kidding. You are showering while standing next to the toilet, and the space is so small that the shower curtain is clinging to your body as you shower. I decided to be a good sport and enjoy our weekend despite the uncomfortable accomodations, however when we got back at night we realized that the walls are paper thin. We could hear every single conversation happening next door and in the hallway. Every door opening and closing, each toilet flush.... you get the idea. Early in the morning we were woken up by train passing by -- the hotel is right next to a train station. That was pretty much the last straw for me. I went online and booked us into a different hotel. The rest of our weekend was amazing. End of story
