“Amazing tacos. Unique drinks. Great service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012 via mobile

Walked into this place not knowing how they were gonna pull off such great food with all these wall decorations but to my surprise some tacos were even exotic. Armadillo alligator and crocodile tacos were some of the wild food they had. Our bartender Mario was the best and waited on us hand and foot. Will visit again soon.

“Amazing Tacos and Nice Patio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

We stopped here for our first lunch after a long drive from LA and it was perfect. Highly recommend the tacos pastor. Get a seat on the small patio out back (like three tables small) and get some tacos and cerveza. You won' regret it.

“It's All About the Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

Having just come up from a stay in Mexico, we were really getting into Mexican food when we found this little spot off State street. It's small and plain but that's ok. The food is outstanding! We had chorizo and spiced pork tacos and they were delicious. My wife said they were the best she's had. The owner, a nice young lady, is personable and a great help with the quite extensive menu for a place this small. If you're in Santa Barbara give this place a try.

“Delicious Food For the Adventurous and Non-Adventurous Alike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

El Taco Tequila is a wonderful spoke right off State. Delicious tacos! Great flavor combinations! My favorite is the #6 (the pork and goat cheese taco). They even have unusually offerings from time to time including alligator, crocodile, rabbit, snake, and armadillo. Very fun! Great tequila selection that will fit any price range. My only complaint is the price. A taco costs around $3.74-$4 and you need 2-3 to get full. This place would just knock it out of the park if they offered free chips and salsa along with the tacos. Overall, a very welcome addition to Santa Barbara's State St.

“Bar or Restaurant?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

Cleverly decorated but a bit hard to find, this small bar/taco bar restaurant is bound to be popular with the tequila cocktail crowd. The menu is all tacos, sort of competing with a more famous locale on Milpas Street, and they are well made and satisfying if somewhat pricey. The tortillas are hand made as are the tasty stuffings, some very exotic meats included. The interior is sort of a Day of the Dead meets Zapata. There is a small "patio" in the rear but this place is not a selection to take in the Santa Barbara ambiance. Food is ordered at the bar and picked at a window in the back. I suppose it is meant to be like a tapas place in a fast food style. Torn between average and very good overall simply because the food is so interesting.
