Few things you need to know before you stay at the Bacara Resort:
(1) It is located in the City of Goleta, Santa Barbara COUNTY; 15 to 20-minute drive on HWY 101 to downtown Santa Barbara.
(2) It is surrounded by the ocean, HWY 101 and a national forest. If you do enjoy hiking, it will cost you (as a guest of course) $45 per person for the hike.
(3) The staff is the rudest, most condescending and pretentious. The reason being: the staff is comprised of University of California, Santa Barbara students. They are inexperienced, immature and very unhelpful.
(4) Unless you plan to remain on the Bacara property throughout your stay (i.e., lounge by the pool, swim, get spa treatments, or hike for $45) you won't enjoy it.
(5) The hotel bar closes at 10 pm. Make sure you stock up on beverages or resort to the wet bar because you most consciously would not want to go out to downtown SB, drink and have to drive the 15 minutes on Hwy 101 back to the hotel. Your other alternative would be to take a cab into town and back which would cost you about $50 each way.
(6) Essentially, it is a resort built around a spa. The concept is very poorly designed!
Otherwise, the property is nice, spanish architecture, etc.
