Heard this place is losing money and now I know why. Very bad management and poor service. Could care less about guests concerns. Waited 1.5 hours to check in even after arriving very late to check in. They could have cared less--just said we had to deal with it. Happy we didn't show up on time or the wait would have been double. No smiles from employees--they all seemed very inexperienced like it was their first job ever with very little training. Very unhappy environment to visit considering price and location. We will stay at top hotel in SB from now on. Other options are far superior.

Wonderful resort but if you are planning on a few nights out in Santa Barbara be prepared for the drive.
The resort is very pretty and elegant. Room was furnished to a high standard. Beautiful decor, linens, toiletries and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was well laid out and very romantic with the candles on.
The pool and garden areas are perfectly manicured.
Beach area wasn't special but it certainly didn't matter as the beauty of Bacara is more than sufficent.
Would love to stay again for a little longer.

We really enjoyed the way our suite looked and felt: beautiful and comfortable with picturesque views from the balcony. From the bedding and fireplace down to the french doors and spanish architecture this was a remarkably romantic getaway complete with idyllic sunset and sunrise beaming gently into the bedroom and incredible on-site dining this resort we highly reccomend. The staff was helpful from the beginning.

I have stayed here several times. The most recent time was in the fall of 2003. Each time I stayed there I had great service and felt like they would do anything for me. One time I even stayed there for FREE when they gave away a free night to former guests to commemorate 9/11.

The only problem is that the price is a little higher than it should be. Also, if you stay in a room overlooking the pool, you may have noisy kids waking you up early. I think a no-kid policy at some of these places would be perfect!
